This is my latest attempt to goad myself into buying some new games. My streak of not buying anything has gone on longer than I'd like so I figured I'd start pulling games off the shelf and trying to figure out exactly what my tastes are. There were no real rules for how the playthrough had to go, whatever appealed most.

Had a lot of fun.
-Viewtiful Joe
-God Hand
-Resident Evil 5
-Final Fantasy X
-No More Heroes 2
-Dead Rising
-Jak 2
-F Zero GX
-Pokemon Colosseum
-Zelda: Wind Waker
-Resident Evil 6
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Jak 3
-Luigi's Mansion
-Resident Evil 4
-No More Heroes
-Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
-Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Hotline Miami 2
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Devil May Cry 2
-Zelda: Majora's Mask
-Devil May Cry 5
Didn't have much fun.

This list probably looks strange. I think a game consistently being able to make you laugh goes a long way so some of the weirder positions are probably because of that.
As far as consoles go, I'm thinking Switch easily beats the other two but I'd still need to come up with a list of games I'd want to play. I'm hoping this'll help.

I don't think I beat any game in April, apart from random Brave Dungeon runs.

You ranked Devil May Cry 2 above Devil May Cry 5

I haven't even played Devil May Cry 5 and that's clearly nonsense.

If you were talking about overall presentation and entertaining people on their first playthrough, sure. I've played both of these multiple times though and I find it easier to stay awake during 2. And this is ranked based on how entertained I was.

2's funny. It's got those Arius cutscenes. And Infested tank/chopper.
It's also really short so the pain ends faster than 5 and Majin Devil Trigger destroys things.
Both characters gets their own disc instead of constantly switching between 3 characters who only get a few levels each like in DMC5. 2 has an extra OP unlockable character than can be used in any level.

I slacked for the first three months.
-January was mostly multiplayer stuff, nothing good either.
-February, I rediscovered DMC4 and played a bunch of that.
-March, I remembered I did actually have a 1 game backlog and finally got round to playing KOTOR 2.
-And then April I jumped through a bunch of hoops to discover that I apparently enjoy the Viewtiful Joe franchise. At least I finally got round to beating the Dark Aeons and Penance.

Becoming excited for new games and finding ones I want to play have become alien to me.

Update.
I went to the game store and saw the prices.
I am amused that our timeline has gotten this dark, ashamed of whoever is still buying these and firmly placed back at square one.

Played as fast as possible. Some of these are short, I remember the gist of most of them. Don't break every single one up into its own play session, finish Luigi's Mansion quick and swap the disc out for F Zero GX immediately, stuff like that.
Technically Colosseum was started in March but it did end in April.
Majora's Mask didn't work so when I say I beat it I mean the player outlasted the hardware.
DMC5 can be beaten in 20 minutes if you win the prologue fight.
FFX took a while though. Long game.

Even with all that, how do you have this much time in a month?

I just beat Metroid Prime remaster and I've been playing it for a few weeks.

-Well Jak 2 and Jak 3 play the same so beat one and the other goes really fast.
-Hotline Miami's really short.
-Dead Rising has a lot of idling parts so you can leave it on while you're doing whatever you need to and a menu/save prompt will stop the clock from running away. FFX is turn based so it's a bit like that too.
-DMC2's also really short and exploitable
-Some stuff like NMH2 and RE5 I left NG+ on and that lets you speed some of the slower parts way up.
-I got extremely lucky with those treasure hunting levels/Finalhazard on SA2B and that cuts the game down.
-Mario Galaxy's really easy and it turns out you only needed what, 60 stars (Some are about a minute long) to get to the last stretch.
-I think NMH1 has a grand total of 1 enemy that doesn't get absolutely destroyed by dark step spam. (It's Jeane, even Henry goes down pretty fast to it.)

Damn that's a lot of games for just one month.

I game almost daily and am lucky to finish between 2-4 games a month, depending on how long they are.
