Bautista is done, Saldana is done. Dunno how they're gonna continue that group without them.

This means Gamora either dies (again) or she retires from being a Guardian. If the team still exists after this movie, I think there will be major changes to the roster. Mutiple members will die or retire

Maybe Starlord will settle down with her and have kids. He is probably done too

Well you could always go the traditional comics way and rotate members out.

Remember when Bruce Wayne could be recast and nobody would freak out about the character having to leave or needing to reboot the whole series. Why can't recasts happen anymore?

As we all know when an actor says they wont return to portray a character they never ever do again not ever.

Was Kilmer to Clooney the only recast of Bruce Wayne within the same universe?

If the MCU wants to survive forever, eventually recasts have to happen. People need to get over it. Do you never want to see Captain America again? The comics are a living universe that has survived since the 60s. The movies can't do the same without recasts. Otherwise we can only use each character for a decade at most and then move on til we have used up every character in Marvel and there is nothing left to do. Why can't Iron Man have a new face so we can have more of his stories? People are too attached to specific actors.

I'm on board with the identity of Alfred being more important to the Batverse than Batman.

Gunn has said all along this is the last time we'll see this team as the Guardians.

What are the odds Gunn poached them all?

They could just recast her. She's not particularly iconic anyways.

Forever makes direct reference to Catwoman from Returns. And Commissioner Gordon is also same through all the movies.

If just a change in directors is enough to call a separate universe, then Thor 1&2 are more separate from 3&4 than any of the Batman movies

It's not about recasting being impossible, it's about being able to give character genuine endings outside of the never-ending comicbook medium

Right but it's pretty dumb to go through all the trouble of keeping alt Gamora only to immediately remove her again.

Apart from general fatigue over the role and Gunn / Bautista being done as well, Infinity War pretty much hit the reset button on her character development (and honestly, if I were in her shoes, being the baddest woman in the galaxy reduced to feebly slapping Big Daddy Thanos' arm as he threw her off a cliff would leave me a bit bitter). Can't blame her for wanting to step away from the role.

The Guardians had a damn good run, and hopefully 3 will tie things up nicely.

It was my understanding that this is going to be the final Guardians of the Galaxy movie (at least with this cast), especially now that Gunn is in charge of DC, so thats no surprise to me tbh.

To be fair, the comics have gone on for so long because they've redone stories constantly. It hasn't been just one continuous thing. There's so many different versions of heroes that aren't related to the other stories at all.

And with Captain America we still have a Captain America. The character we lost was Steve Rogers, but the Captain America mantle lives on.

We only got the Guardians movies at all because they lacked access to the Xmen and FF franchises at the time but still wanted to do a team style movie. Be prepared for these characters to sit on the shelf for a long time.
