I'm just getting tired of really really boring color grading. It doesn't have to be Moon Rise Kingdom, but why is every single movie some muted color shit fest with these dark as fuck scenes where you can barely see anything? It's almost as bad as when everything was Teal and Orange all the time.

It seems to be a mixture of adults complaining it's not the whimiscal animated version and other sjust being chuds complaining about it not being a 100% white cast

interestingly no mention of Hook for some reason which was also not 100% white

I always found a lot of fantasy movies or sci fi to be like that
if it's 'dark' in any way then the movie lighting is dark
like a dark comedy, dark darma, anything with 'not super happy' is usually dark for athmesphere

I think this was a missed opportunity to promote Iridessa, a fairy friend of Tinkerbell's who is already Black (and trademarked by Disney). When it comes to diversity and inclusion, every little bit helps. But original characters have permanence whereas borrowed characters go back to looking the way they did previously. Tinkerbell's still going to be a blonde-haired White fairy in everything but this movie.

If Tinkerbell had been a cameo, and Iridessa had been the primary fairy, it would have been an opportunity to create a new character who could appear in merchandising, advertisements, stage shows, etc. alongside of Tinkerbell. If a young girl who is Black wishes to go to Disney World and do a character meet and greet with Tinkerbell, she's going to meet the blonde Tink. Had Disney gone with Iridessa, that little girl could have met a magical fairy princess who was more like her.

Well yes. It woukd cut down though on stupid reviews. I think some of these shows get bombed by a horde of people who never even watch it. Less of them might take the effort to try to bomb it if they had to commit to watching it

If anything it would just make the bigots put more venom into their reviews

Most Disney live action is trash though and always has been outside like 2-3 movies.

The review bombed score will probably end up being an accurate reflection of the films quality.

Of course CE's resident future #metoo case would ignore the obvious reasons. This why you have to ignore audience reviews and go solely off of critic reviews any time anything even remotely promotes diversity.

Here's is the thing, bad movies don't get reviewed bombed. They might end up with a shit score, but they have a reasonable number of reviews and typically have a range of low scores.

Compare that to lovers review-bombing something because it dares to have a minority in it. It's just an absurd number of 1-star reviews.

Hook wasn't a Disney movie though, so Julia Roberts wasn't representing the Tinkerbell that shows up in a ton of Disney logos.

The only thing I know about this movie is that apparently the director or someone didn't want Tinkerbell's wings to glow because that wouldn't be realistic and people online were mocking him for basically being cinemasins.

Quickly browsing the negative reviews, most of them say it's just lost the magic of the animated film. That it's another typical dry Disney Live Action remake, the writing is poor and plot changes are unwelcome... are we calling bad reviews with reasoning "review bombing" now?

Weirdly enough the first time I saw someone mention modern day politics and bullshit was a perfect 10 review. We don't talk about those though. :)

Hook still remains to me the best live action telling of the Peter Pan story.
