There is nothing wrong with emulating their games or promoting emulation.

I do and used it correctly. Punishing someone because they said something you don't like is explicitly censorship.

Depends where the game files come from. Could be completely legit, could be completely open seas. Thus the fine line journalists have to dance around, and why it's generally it's not acceptable for them to promote emulation even if for legit reasons.

Man people defending Nintendo here are the worst. This is no different than blacklisting them for giving a bad review. Regardless of how you(admittedly justifiably) feel about Kotaku, this is a big corp abusing their powers to censor a smaller group.

the extent of what kotaku did wrong was just publish an article that goes against nintendos corporate values and nintendo revoked early access to games for it. thats obviously what was gonna happen so no, IDC about kotaku for bringing this on themselves. I'm just saying that Nintendos corporate values are shit and anti-consumer and they are more in the wrong than kotaku is.

Regardless of your stance on emulation or piracy, Nintendo is not under any obligation to provide review copies to anyone. If they don't want to give you free games before their releases date, they don't have to.

Metroid is not super successful franchise like Mario that piracy won't really hurt in the long run. It's a series that piracy can easily turn into a "not profitable" venture. People bring up "back-up" copies, but you know full-well that 99.999999% of emulation are not using "back-ups" of the games they purchased.

You want to argue that companies shouldn't prohibit you from emulating games that they no longer give you an accessible way to purchase? Go right on ahead. Metroid Dread is on a console that is highly accessible, and the game itself is also accessible. No piracy was absolutely no danger to the game, sorry. There have been studies upon studies for this.
