What is it about consoles that make people so tribalistic?

You don't see Coca-Cola drinkers bragging about how much better their soda sells than Pepsi. You don't see McDonalds eaters making liking McDonalds their identity, like console fanboys do.

You see it with bud light tho

I remember the GameCube and Wii U era, when being a Nintendo fan was like being a fan of the Boston Red Sox before 2004.

I mean it makes sense.

Gaming can be a big part of someone's life and games give you alot of happy and pleasant memories so it's not too hard to understand why someone becomes attached to a particular console.

And obviously exclusives and other fans make it feel a bit more like a community.

Happens in headphones community too sometimes

Like the stax mafia that used to really hate on dynamic driver headphones and still hates tf out of stax energizer and recommend using some expensive 3rd party energizers

Also iem vs headphone posts. Iems have taken off the past few years. I know some iem fanboys would go to headphone threads to shit on them

I'm so glad that stax aren't put up on a pedestal these days (outside of stax related threads). No longer seen as the definitive endgame for headphones. So many good options atm. Also I still prefer the sennheiser hd600 over the three diff stax headphones that I own for longer listening sessions. No idea why sennheisers are considered veiled tbh never been an issue for me
