Through 21 days in release, the worldwide cume is $901.2M with $444M from domestic and $457.2M at the international box office. Illumination Studios are masters at marketing and basically cracked the code to make bank. Every movie they released so far had a bigger marketing budget than their actual production budget. It's to a point where I consider Illumination Studios more of a Marketing studio than a Production one. But no matter what, you're always going to get a high ROI if you fund Illumination studios.
