I grew up on late 90s Stone Cold/Rock rivalry which was amazing at the time (and apparently the golden era).

But once I hit puberty I just thought wrestling was lame and went on with my life. However watching these YT videos is making me appreciate Wrestling again and some take aways Ive gotten are:

• early-mid 90s WWF was insane and Brett Heart/HBK rivalry was awesome
• I feel like I missed out on how awesome the early 2000s WWF was when they absorbed WCW
• everything Ive seen from around 2015 onwards looks absolutely boring and generic aside from having a literal wrestler that is supposed to be monster or something
• 1980s wrestling was lame because Hogan just controlled everything

So is it worth my time to actually go back and watch some of this stuff?

I think wrestling is fun if you go in with an attitude knowing its fake and turning your brain off for it. Sometimes you just wanna watch dudes do a flip or something with fake stakes.

Or you could turn your brain on and enjoy when wrestling had well-written segments and great matches that told a story.

You did what most people did and leave when you become a teenager or learn it's fake.

Now that it's fake, everyone knows it's fake, etc., you watch it for it's sports entertainment aspect. You realize these people are doing amazing tricks, are suffering real injuries, are really strong, etc. and it helps bring back it's entertainment.

Women's wrestling is better than it has ever been, though it still has quite a ways to go. You have a female champion Bianca that is...the bEST. She is strong and super, I mean super, attractive. So she kicks ass in style, empowering young and older ladies everywhere. I wish she'd become the unified champion and take down Roman.

I honestly never cared much about the actual wrestling until the early 00s. The angles were silly, but the in-ring stuff improved significantly.

if you want to watch classic stuff you can find a ton really easily on peacock

I just randomly remembered that video of the guy doing backyard wrestling and jumping off of the rope or something and when he landed, both of his legs went backwards. I wonder what happened to him.

I quit watching in the early 2000s. But it was just the absurdity of it that pulled me in, I still find it quite fascinating but don't bother with the new stuff.

I quit watching around the WCW invasion, started watching WWE again around 05-07, but got sick of it again. I watch a lot of old wrestling from the 70s/80s/90s on youtube since modern wrestling doesn't really appeal to me anymore. It's almost a self parody with how silly it can get and there's too many spots where it looks like they're obviously cooperating. Wrestling was always over the top, but there's a limit to where it goes too far and the suspension of disbelief is broken. There were issues of that back in the day too, but it's more in your face now.

If done well, wrestling can create some of the absolute best entertainment.
The issue is that when it's bad, it's some of the worst.
