Just finished Devil May Cry 5, seeing how this thing holds up.

Eh, the TWW was a great game for it's time, but it's basically a uglier, shorter OoT with a larger world and expanded combat. KoRL is a classic character though.

Best Zelda game imo.

Says the tradition on Outset Island is that all males of a certain age have to do OOT Link cosplay for one day. They don't even get the sword.

They don't exactly have a lot of people on this island. That must make it extra abnormal and embarrassing when the day finally arrives.

Gaint demon bird appears, Tetra falls out of the sky, Aryll panics about it.
But the merry Outset Island music refuses to budge.

I last played the GCN version prolly 11 or 12 years ago, as a sort of read-along story time with my kid and at the time it was still solid af.

prolly have a hard time going back to it after the quality of life improvements on the Wii U remaster though.

Oh the parry's pretty great. Makes a satisfying sound effect.

Great game. HD version is greater. RIP Miiverse and Tingle Bottles though.

I wouldnt mind returning to the WW concept.

The big things I want are islands with more meat to their bones and for the open sea to be more organic and conducive to self discovery. The grid with square=island just ruined the concept a bit.

He accepts the costume pretty fast.
He's planning on going away, he's assured he won't be coming back for a while. He goes back to his place to grab a shield and say goodbye. He doesn't bother to grab another outfit.

"This is the legendary shield said to have been used by the hero himself."
Why do we have this? That's quite a thing to just have lying around.

I don't really know what I'm missing.
I heard something about them making the triforce shards less soul destroying but apart from that I don't know what the HD one changes.

The HD version only requires Triforce Charts for three of the shards, as opposed to all of them.

There's also an item you can get at the night auction called the Swift Sail, that lets you sail at top speed in any direction, without having to change the wind first.

I think there are some more changes, like Wii U gamepad support and such, but I don't know so much about those.

For some reason I really don't remember one of the searchlights in Forsaken Fortress having a path that goes straight to another one in about 10 seconds.

These sound nice but being quarantined on the Wii U is a brutal drawback.

This level used to have me playing so cautiously. Now I'm sitting where treating them like Payday 2 guards and it's all just clicking. Just got past the last Moblin.

Ganon's high collar and long sleeves make him look like a midget.

Tingle hits a little differently.
There are fairies in this game's world, is the idea that he knows this, has encountered proof of their existence and wants to be with them? Or is he a guy who's only heard lots of rumors and stories about them and is going crazy trying to find even the slightest trace? One one hand he mistakes Link for one so you'd assume he doesn't know what he's looking for, but on the other hand I can think of three different designs in this game that all classify as fairies.
Makes you wonder what his hobbies are.

I played the letter minigame that gives you rupees, he said I'd get more if I managed 25 letters. I thought he actually meant I'd get a piece of heart so I did it. He meant what he said. Curses.

There are more rewards and stuff if you reach a certain score, but I don't remember the details.

In hindsight, throwing Medli across a gap and being rewarded with an empty bottle out of the blue is just a strange interaction in general.

Observation.
The fire pillars that shoot out of lava and holes in the wall in Dragon Roost Cavern look like the goop from Mario Sunshine.

Gohma doesn't feel like a boss. A flashy showcase for the grappling hook more like.
It's really convenient Komali just kind of decided to hand over the dragon ball too.
I'm trying to remember if King of Red Lions even told Link what he was searching for when he came here.

It's nice looking. Compared to watching Gohma fail to repair a ceiling at least.

Now that I think about it there really wasn't a lot of downtime between Dragon Roost and Forbidden Woods. I was free to go anywhere on the sea but what's the point if I'm just going to run into boulders I can't destroy, hammer switches I can't hammer and belligerent cloud riding frogs that I cannot negotiate with through the language of archery equipment?

I don't think I'm even going to a dungeon next. Isn't it something like go find a goron, find the pirates, break into a cave behind Outset Island?

Well that Big Octo coming out of nowhere was just about the most startling thing I've encountered in a game this month.
He even got the last laugh. Gave me an orange rupee while I was already maxed out.

The sailing definitely isn't as tedious as I remember. Not yet at least.
I'm getting my third pearl from Whiscash right now so it's only a bit and I'll have the bow and then the teleport spell, too.

it took me many years to find out they put one by the volcano island, one island south of Dragon Roost, before you would have any way of beating it.

If nothing else it'll get people listening to King of Red Lions from that point on.

Just to say I did and to see where it sends you, I sailed into the giant cyclone without a bow.
I was doing a lap of the ocean and getting all the Big Octos/Great Fairies so no matter where it sent me it wasn't going to matter too much.
it put me one square to the left.

Getting the Master Sword feels better in this one than in Twilight Princess. In TP it's like oh good this thing oughtta undo the spell and I guess I could keep the sword while I'm at it.

This time getting the sword itself is the event. They immediately give you a bunch of minibosses to test it on and I'm pretty sure it has more reach than the other sword which is a cool upgrade.

I want to like the Helmaroc fight but there just isn't enough going on. Wait -> hammer -> repeat. Then when the mask comes off, Jump attack -> spin attack x3 is enough to one cycle him. Could've been better.

The Zelda reveal is a little weirder than I remember. Tetra got overwritten. She gets renamed, looks completely different and for that scene at least, lost all her personality.

I don't think someone being part of a lineage is grounds for randomly renaming them the same thing their ancestor was named. I feel like if they talked back to the king or questioned what he was doing it could end up being pretty funny.

I've got a small headstart on the part everyone hates. I found the island where you need to hit switches with the bird and got that Triforce chart. After that, Tingle sent me the incredible chart and I just got a second one.
I'm really sure some of these need the hookshot so I might call it a solid headstart and go to the next temple.

It's cool that you can do a few early, but yeah you need the hookshot for at least 2.

Oh no, it's happening to Medli too!
She was an empty vessel waiting to be repurposed for an OOT reference as well!
It's too late, she's already zombie walking to the ancient, subterranean temple and mumbling about destiny and power to repel evil.

I gotta say this game's more fun than I was expecting it to be.

I dunno why you would expect the internet to have a half decent opinion about anything. If Wind Waker isnt the best Zelda, it's a tie for first.

It's less listening to other people since I played this back in 6th gen. All Zelda games feel slower and more rigid after playing Dark Souls 1 but this one's compensating pretty well.

It's more I played TP recently and that actually was a slog. WW does some stuff better. No motion controls is a huge plus compared to Wii TP at least. There's way less downtime between dungeons in this one and having a giant ocean you're free to traverse instead of the TP Hyrule Field with its aggressively limited travel options means you're free to route in sidequests/Big Octos/Great Fairies and extend the time between dungeons in a productive way if you want.

I also like the innate upgrades. Stuff I don't have to equip. The Master Sword is a power boost, the gauntlets let me pick up any boulder, I'm pretty sure I'm minutes away from the Mirror Shield. There's a mask that lets me see enemy health bars somewhere too. TP it's like "You got a power up! Now equip your giant steel shoes and start walking extremely slowly!" It was rough.

Music's more memorable than TP too which helps.
I've got two triforce shards ahead of schedule but when I get to that segment for real that'll be the make or break point.

I bet that was a really hype, action packed fight.
They both seem so powerful. One takes 16 days to shoot fire in the wrong direction and the other one managed to lose to that.

Throwing 25 letters at different shelves is paying off. The mail sorting acolyte is sending me money and his mother has sent me a piece of heart, addressing me as superior to her son.
I wonder if this keeps going.

And I just bagged my 4th triforce shard.

I honestly prefer the look of the original to the HD version. And I always loved sailing so I never had a problem with the Tri force section. But it is nice to have the Gamepad for switching items and gyro aiming.

I guess if I really wanted to try and stick it to the game, I could get the hookshot, leave before finishing the temple and try to grab up the rest of the triforce shards.
