What benefits will this actually have though? Most of the stuff that I can't do on my iPhone I will do on my PC anyway. One thing I can say is that the App Store does not have very good media players, but that may just be a Mac thing

It depends
3rd party apps could really take advantage of the hardware and possibly even open it up for a full laptop replacement like samsung did with their tablets. It's limited but if most stuff can be done through the browser it works well

but it really depends. it's fully possible apple might haave some loophole that stops all 3rd party apps from accessing 99% of the system. So it's very interesting to see how much they'll try to block it

but we might get to play openxcom

so far the most cmmon way is jailbreaking but that limits you

basically it could mean anthing from 'apple lets you install firefox from the firefox site' or something as interesting as 'apple lets you install 3rd party apps not ever available in the store like emulators or other stuff'
