IIRC, his goal was to create a safe place for soldiers to not be used and be pawns of nations and governments. Instead of taking up a political position, he instead built a huge military group to serve his belief of "free soldiers". What yall think? His worldview is too myopic. He thought governments don't work if you're a career soldier so the only way to treat your kind right is to divorce yourself from the society that won't accept you. --- Surely if I stick up for rich people on the Internet I'll eventually get a sweet job offer from them, right? ...
