Save a stranger?

Like, you're just walking down the road, someone runs from a burning house and says someone is still in there.

Do you think you'd go? Would it make a difference if it was kids, or animals?

I'd try to help however I can but if that shit is an inferno I'm gonna stay outside.

I have actually gone into a burning building to get a dog out before, but I justified it on the basis that the fire seemed to be in just one room downstairs and the dog was upstairs.

I have to say, I completely underestimated how much smoke there would be and how much it would fuck me up.

Depending on the severity of the fire. I don't wanna become a burden to the firefightersthat show up, having to carry my unconscious body outta there, but yeah, I'd run in if it was feasible/necessary.

Hopefully you A) don't have any long term issues and B) carry a lifelong bit of pride for how awesome that was.

This was years ago and it doesnt affect me now. Took me a good few months before I could run any distance again though. Just seemed to really mess my lungs up but they did get better.

To be honest, Id kind of forgotten about it until seeing this topic. A lot has happened between now and then.

It really depends on how big the fire is. It wouldn't do anyone any good for me to run into a building where I can't see or breathe

I was in an apartment building fire before. 3rd floor, inner stairwell.

Woke up to orange flickering on the wall. Took a moment to register. When it did, it was seeing flames lick at the 3rd floor window.

*up in a flash*

I was just staying the night at friends that night. I woke them up *FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!*

Husband, wife and infant.

Went into that stairwell and it was nothing but black smoke. First time in my life I experienced disorientation from smoke and it was immediate. I couldnt tell if I was going up or down and used my hands.

Pounded on every single door. 5 other apartments. I was desperate to wake up as many people as I could. No one came to their doors and ultimately, I had to give up.

The three of us made it outside. No shoes, no coats, just us shivering in the winter cold, exceptall the other people in the building were already outside. And they had shoes and coats on. They left us.

My anger was severe and lasted a few years.

Entire building went down. Started when someone cooking had a frying pan catch fire, so they threw it outside. They made it out first, I would assume.

Man, the smell burning apartment siding puts out is merciless. Smelt that burn smell for days.

Last time I played I think I got to the first train robbery and I was trying to be as good as possible and spare people but I twitched and accidentally shot one of the engineers and panicked and it all went to hell.

And then I thought that's basically exactly how those things go bad in real life and that was such a cool emergent gameplay moment. Then I got distracted from it and never went back, lol.

Games installed now, let's go!

I was present for a house burning down with a dog barking from the top room. I had my dog with me and didn't know how he'd act if I pawned him off on a stranger. Plus, I couldn't see any way to climb up the roof even being as skinny as I am and having experience climbing weird shit. It was the front of a house roof with nothing surrounding it and unclimbable inclined sections of roofs leading to it from back, same as my house. After realizing I couldn't do anything, I walked away so I wouldn't have to hear the dog die if it did. Fucked me up for a minute and waa so depressing.

But yeah, I 100% would. Because I also have a lot of experience making fires and understand how much heat you can feel without being actually burned deeply. But, I wouldn't risk my life if it got too uncertain for me. I got people to help take care of in my family and I can't just go taking myself out for others. Im not a hero for a stranger, Im just confident in that situation that I would know my limits and stop if I felt in real danger. Plus, how cool would it feel to succeed? :3

No, bro. I'm not a trained firefighter. I don't have an axe to defeat doors or obstacles. I don't have oxygen. I could very well die, or pass out from smoke inhalation and then the firefighters might rescue me and not the person. It would be different if it was my ex-girlfriend. I'd run in and save her.

He didn't really set the scene. So, it all depends. If it's already filled with smoke, Im not going that far past the front/back door. If it's not, you just gotta clock windows on the second floor and it's worth chancing hurting your leg jumping out. People could help you once you jump.

That would be insane if I ended up being able to get in that burning house and the dog just attacked me as fire surrounded us lol. I love pitbulls, but the hate of this place just got my mind going that way and I never considered that.
