Whats the difference between

getting lean and defined
and get stronger and lift more weight

if you get stronger and lift more weight doesnt the lean and defined come with it as well?

using the Fitbod app and they have these two settings for generating your workout. I want to have more strength but look cut and lean too

Getting stronger is just moving more weight. You train and eat for it differently than you would if you're cutting to show of existing muscle or trying to focus on making muscles bigger.

Honestly, just pick a goal. You can switch later if it's not what you're looking for. If you're new, it'll push you in a good direction as long as you avoid injury

ive been going the rec center since last year to exercise and lift weights. But if other people before me where they used the weight machines like arm lat machines where they leave the weights on the stuff then ill skip it.

I aint cleaning up after someone else's crap that they never bothered putting away.

To get lean and defined you workout with a calorie deficit to lose fat so your existing muscles show better. To get stronger you workout with a calorie surplus to gain muscle, but also makes you gain fat so there's less definition.

Usually people gain muscle then switch to a deficit to lose the fat and increase definition in the muscles they gained. It's long process. You can try to gain muscle while staying lean but it's a lot more difficult for most people and takes longer.

It just on how you want to look and where your priority's are. Lean literally means having the "skinny" look with more muscle definition.
