RWBY Volume 9 Spoilers So the main plot and Salem stuff has been mostly ignored this season as they're not even on Remnant right now but in another world(the Ever After) created by the brother gods. Ruby's been feeling shit like pretty much the entire volume, and it was made worse when she got news of Penny's death. They learn that the Ever Afterans don't die but ascend(reincarnate) into a better version of themselves when it's time to go or drink some tea made by not-Yggdrasil's leaves. After Ruby's rant/breakdown she runs off and Neo finds her which leads to a physical/mental beatdown and Neo convinces her to drink the tea. She does this right in front of WBY+J and they have no idea at this point what it does to humans, so Ruby did effectively commit suicide from her perspective. She's currently being reincarnated after speaking to the Blacksmith about what she wants to become. Said Blacksmith seems to make new parts for the ascended Ever Afterans before the tree is finished reincarnating them. I think that's everything.
