cat are weird like that. There's an actual formula for it. They have to fall a certain distance to be totally fine. Anything less or more and they could die or injured, but within the right distance, they're okay.

From this fall? Dunno, decent. But it fell on grass and was able to run off, so it was probably fine other than maybe a bruise or mild sprain that it would notice after adrenaline wore off.

That fall would cripple a large dog and kill a human, though.

It actually just depends on their poise when they land & the surface they land on. If they have enough time to twist their body to land on their feet AND the surface is soft enough they'll be uninjured.

Sometimes they fail to land properly or the surface is like straight concrete. It's unlikely the cat will die but they could be very seriously injured.

Squirrels are much better at doing this than cats. Watching slow motion videos of squirrels jumping / falling is impressive as fuck. They are nature's ninja.
