But it fell on grass and was able to run off, so it was probably fine other than maybe a bruise or mild sprain that it would notice after adrenaline wore off. If they have enough time to twist their body to land on their feet AND the surface is soft enough they'll be uninjured. Sometimes they fail to land properly or the surface is like straight concrete. It's unlikely the cat will die but they could be very seriously injured. Squirrels are much better at doing this than cats. Watching slow motion videos of squirrels jumping / falling is impressive as fuck.
