They think its the same as white genocide. If people like Desantis had their way, children would be taught that the slaves were brought here to be educated and given a shot at the American Dream.

A good working definition is that CRT is that under certain conditions, a racist group can create rules, laws and institutions to preserve and protect their racism.

Perfect case for study is Rosa Parks.

She refused to sit in the back. Bus driver (who said he really didn't care, just wanted to keep his job) calls the cops because the company's rule to do so was based on the city's law which was enforced by the law enforcement institutions (Cops, jails, courts, prisons).

The interaction of rules, laws and institutions is known as intersectionality in CRT.

Intersectionality has been shown to operate all over the world, Blacks and Indians in Africa, Japanese and Koreans in Japan, colonists against indigenous peoples and on and on. It's not anti-white. It just happens that the first CRT scholars were American and they used American cases because Jim Crow was a motherfucker that provided many easy ones.

It cannot be overstated that every single action DeSantis takes is primarily to raise his clout on the national stage; everything else - particularly the governance of Florida - is a distant second.

The Florida Democratic party is one of the most incompetent state parties in the US

I would argue even worse than the Arizona GOP

They have completely ceded any sort of hope of winning any state position or even effectively forming opposition for the next generation.

I don't know why they're so particularly awful there when a lot of state Democratic parties are doing spectacularly nowadays.

I find it weird that state representatives go to other states to give speeches (other than active campaigning). Like MTG going to Idaho a few weeks ago. Just seems strange to me.

As time goes on the more I believe int he conspiracy theory that Democrats are just controlled opposition, or at least I understand more why people believe it. Really though they're most likely just too scared to rock the boat of the status quo because they and their donors benefit. I mean firstly I don't think that's a debate that's actually happening right now. For all his faults, after the events of last summer and the performance in the midterms, Biden has virtually no serious dissent in the party. The guy can outfox McConnell and win elections, and that's enough for them.

Secondly, the Florida Democratic Party is a state-level party that wouldn't be focused on that sort of thing right now. They have serious problems, but that's not one of them.

I mean the national party could, but it's a question of whether the state party would accept the help or whether they could competently utilize the help.

The national party I think has also kinda just given up on Florida after the state party fucked the last couple elections there.

I believe that theory too, because of stuff like this

Democrats aren't controlled opposition they are just overall a conservative party as in they aim to conserve the status quo. The tiny amount of progressive politicians we have run with the Democrats because they're closer to progressive ideology than the regressive republicans and you can't win outside of the two party system.
