The problem is without zoos, it would be harder for people to feel a connection with animals which means less support for conservation. There are some shitty zoos out there that should not exist tho.

We share 94 percent of it with dogs yet we keep them as pets. 90 percent with cats.

There's apparently a group of chimpanzees in the jungle that have started using crude stone tools.

Nothing like a rock tied to a stick to.make a hammer, but they're recognizing that hitting something with a stone is more efficient than a bare hand.

Chimps have always used stone tools (as in using a rock to smash nuts open). But I do remember a story where a group of chimpanzees were discovered to be using spears, which is an advancement that hadn't been seen before.

Because the first definition does not include the context that "ape" is a colloquial term and not a scientific taxon, limiting its use in establishing phylogeny. Saying that humans are apes is like saying chimpanzees are monkeys.

I used to take the 98% stat to mean they're basically just hairy humans who can't talk
