• James Mangold (Logan, Indiana Jones 5, 3:10 to Yuma) is directing a film exploring the origins of the Jedi Order. In the panel it was likened to a "biblical epic" set 25,000 years before the Skywalker Saga.
• Dave Filoni's film will be the "Avengers" of the Mandoverse. All the storylines being set up in the various series will culminate in it.
• As mentioned in the other topic, Sharmeen's (not Charmeen's) film will be set after Episode IX and follow Rey as she attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order.

Respawn is working on 3 Star Wars games that we know of

Jedi Survivor (well *worked* on lol), an FPS game, and a strategy game.

There's also the Ubisoft open world game, the KotOR Remake, and probably a few others I'm forgetting lol

Part of me really wants that and the other part just wants to move on from all the baggage from the 3 trilogies. It's why I'm particularly looking forward to the Mangold project, just an entirely fresh take in a beloved setting.

The interesting part is The Old Republic is still its own distinct era in the timeline, so Lucasfilm clearly has something planned for it, but they're being quiet on it rn.

Those aren't movies, just time periods. Fall of the Jedi is the prequel era with Anakin and Obi-Wan and all.

I would've been pumped for this, but Indiana Jones looks so terrible. Maybe it'll surprise me, but I have such low expectations. Mangold is a great director, but I'm not convinced Disney will let him play to his strengths.

Tbh the rey thing just makes me think "that's basically where we were at after the OT before the sequel stuff happened"

I mean they've been cribbing from Legends for years now, but I honestly don't see a direct adaptation of any of those storylines. I don't think we'll be seeing Exar Kun, Kyp Durron, or the Yuuzhan Vong.

I get the "ugh more Jedi" complaint, but no action comedies? That's literally the entire ST. And the mercenary and detective angles are all in Mando and Andor.

This is exactly what I kind of expected. There were tons of rumors about them doing an Heir to the Empire Avengers type movie, and I guess Filoni's is it.

I've also been expecting Rey back for years. I knew something was up when last year, she joked about wanting to return because she needed a job. You had to get her back eventually to move forward with any Jedi stuff.

Idk about the Dawn stuff. I'm guessing it's a reworking of what D&D from GoT were originally working on.

The second they try to use the Vong, I'm gonna check out and never return to that era, whichever one it is they appear in.

That edgy early 2000s mistake can stay where it belongs.

There's a Vong replacement in canon supposedly, already. They're toned down quite a bit, but they're still a faction that Thrawn and the Chiss seem to be aware of and are preparing to fight.

Don't know if there's anything that will be done with them in live action, but eh

Yes, because Mark Hamill is fucking ancient now. Blame George Lucas for doing a prequel trilogy instead of a sequel trilogy. Hopefully not much though because most of legends was absolute fucking garbage.

I'll pass on the new jedi order 2 electric boogaloo because Rey was an awful character but I'm psyched for Heir to the Empire

I'm betting that Luke will 100% be in it and will be helping Rey.

I'm guessing he'll also be in Filoni's movie.

One thing about Rey returning that has me really pumped up:

We should get to see more of her badass yellow saber made out of her staff. That's such an awesome design, it was a shame it only got one short scene.

Even though I'm very satisfied with the way he ended his arc in IX (his character was one of the few things the film didn't butcher imho) I'm still hyped for this. Gimme more Luke.

I'm wondering what the aim is here, though. The deepfakes/deaging Hamill worked extremely well in Boba, but I'm not sure if you can do that for a whole film.

They honestly would be better served to just hire a younger actor.

They already got one for Han, they just gotta grab some for Luke and Leia and we're good to go, baby

That goes without saying. I greatly hope Boyega is willing to return, I know he wasn't satisfied with the treatment of his character in the trilogy. This could be a great way to make up for that.

I have more confidence in these given that:

• Mangold has an existing relationship with Lucasfilm and has already completed a film for them
• Filoni has an extensive decade+ relationship with them and his film is tied to properties that are actively being released
• Sharmeen's film already has an actress attached and (if this is the film that Lindeloff was writing for) already has a draft of the script

There's definitely reason to be more confident this go-around.
