Ok so during the first playthrough I used the regular pistol until the red 9 was available, then used it with a stock(and fully upgraded it), the TMP with a stock (until the MP5 with the bio scope was available), the broken butterfly (until the Killer 7 was available) and the AR-15 was the only rifle I bought and sold very quickly as it chewed through ammo and was almost useless. I used the free shotgun(the rem 870) and sold it when the Striker became available (was a mistake imo because I didn't care for the spread of the Striker).

I'm gonna sell my red 9 and stock likely and upgrade another pistol all the way to save space. Is the Blacktail or default pistol better fully upgraded?

Also plan on using a scoped rifle. Should I use the 1903 or the SL8(whatever they call it in the game, the sniper rifle with the plastic stock)?

Also I'm definitely selling the striker. Should I get the Riot gun or upgrade the free pump shotgun?

I like the killer 7, except that it is hard to aim because it uses a laser that completely replaces the center reticle.

My inkling is to take the base/free guns (pistol, 870, 1903, MP5, broken butterfly) and upgrade them as much as possible.

there's nothing wrong with keeping the weapons you already have upgraded, hardcore on new game+ is really not that difficult. if you're asking what the best weapons are for each category, my opinions are:

pistol-blacktail
shotgun-riot gun
rifle-stingray (the m4 has better stats maxed out on paper but it always fires at least two shots per trigger pull which is annoying)
magnum-broken butterfly
smg-LE 5 i guess, idk , never really used the smgs much in the remake or the original

Yeah I knew I could use the same guns but I didn't want to really. Just for variety sake I wanna use different guns.

I love HK USPs (the default pistol) and hate Springfield XDs(the Blacktail) so I wanna use the default pistol so bad. I've heard the punisher (FN 5-7) isn't worth the spinels over the Blacktail though

the punisher is decent this time because you can move and aim now to take advantage of its ability, but its still my least favorite

How do you feel about the default pistol leveled all the way up?

The Punisher shines in particular in the castle, because it can shoot through the wooden shields

It's pretty good, probably top 3. the pistols this time are a lot closer together in strength, partly cause they nerfed the red9 pretty hard

That's kinda my inkling, with the MP5 as well, but the Killer 7 is so goddamn hard to aim with the laser and no reticle.

I guess I could just counter strike it and glue a pencil eraser on the center of my TV for a reticle but if the broken butterfly is viable im probably gonna buy it back.

- Can't really go wrong with any of the handguns really. They seem pretty well balanced. Though I'd still probably avoid the Punisher since it has the weakest damage out of all of them (but even that gun has places where it shines, mainly in the castle against the wooden shield enemies). I'm also unsure on the Matilda since it seems like it might chew through ammo too fast, but I've heard from people that used it that it still seems pretty good.

- Shotguns are a different story. The Riot Gun is easily the best one imo. It might not do the most damage (1st one and I think the skull shaker can get more damage) but the tighter spread (and thus better range) makes it great to use against bosses, minibosses, and regular Ganados.

- Sniper you also can't really go wrong with. Most will probably say the Stingray, but I've used the bolt action on my NG+ run and I've come to really like the damage, ammo efficiency, and smaller size it has going for it. That said, it does feel pretty bad against the Regenerators, and unlike the Stingray (which will feel good even if you only invest in it's damage), you'll really want to invest in its fire rate + reload speed as well as get it's exclusive in order for it to be good.

Don't really have much to say about the magnums or smgs as the only ones I've really used were the BB and LE5. I did use the TMP for a bit, but I hated how much the reticulated spreads out (even with the stock) so I boxed it midway through the castle. I've heard it can do really good damage with it's exclusive though.

Play the original instead, it isn't censored like the remake is.

I've already played the remake once, this would be NG+.

But I am tempted to run back through the Wii version. Especially since I can do a NG+ with it as well. I love the pointer controls.

Only if drooling over Ashley is the only thing you are interested in doing. Remake is fine.
