With the anti trans/LGBT and anti wonan legislation they are pushing lately, it's not hyperbolic to say these people are approaching evil. Why do people still support this? Her senses tell her what a skunk of a human being Trump is, yet she earnestly pulls a "God works in mysterious ways" card. We can't see why a horse's ass was made president, but there must be a reason for it. For the people who want religion as a concept to die off, this is the only thing that gives them even a shred of sympathy from me. The world going atheist wouldn't make us into vegan socialists exploring space and reminding alien cultures how comparatively advanced we are, but I do see how some people could image a world in which Republicanism dies for lack of religious support. In truth, it would likely be replaced with something else. Religion isn't the only source of control or tyranny.
