I don't mind weapon degrading, what what I'll never understand is why the Master Sword, the supposed strongest weapon in all of Hyrule only had a measily 30 base attack, when at that point in the game most other weapons had double if not triple its attack. Even if it had a 10 minute cooldown timer. I know it grows to 60 when near Ganon or when you complete the Trial of the Sword, but its still very weak for what should be the best weapon in the game.

But as I alluded to in another topic, I won't be grabbing the game. It's far too expensive for what it is. After tax its 110 CAD.

Agreed about MS. Especially considering how long it takes to unlock.

I honestly dont care about the attack rating be somewhat lower, but that should be a trade off for true unlimited use. No cooldown/durability.

It might be how you WANT to play but really you want to play a different game because BotW ain't it. BotW is about interactions with the environment including physics, whatever you can pick up off the ground nearby, and weather interactions.

No you don't. You can use 1 breakable weapon against two enemies, then pick up one of their weapons and equip it without having to go into the menu. Repeat every two enemies you kill. That's how you're intended to play the game.

Nintendo killed Zelda for good with this game it seems. Hopefully reviewers point out to Nintendo not to be lazy with Zelda if they plan to make a fresh new title. Looks like a 7/10 game.

Same, but I still don't like using weapons made of balsa wood.

Back in Ocarina of Time, there was a sword called the Giant's Knife. It was two handed, did about twice the damage of the master sword, and had longer range.

But if you hit anything with it, it would quickly break. You could get it fixed, and it would get stronger when you fixed it, but it would still break after enough hits.

There was also a long, winding trade side quest that sent you from person to person giving items, getting items, and working your way up to giving eye drops to the big Goron living on top of death mountain.

After that, he tells you that the one who made your giant's knife is his brother, and that he himself is the superior blacksmith.

He makes you a new sword called the Biggoron Sword, and that one is basically the giant's knife except it's unbreakable.

Now I ask....

Why did the developers decide to make every fucking weapon into the giant's knife, which was practically a joke item only there to make you thrilled when you discovered the unbreakable version?

So you don't have to stop what you're doing (combat) to enter a menu, instead you have to stop what you're doing (still combat) to go pick up some another weapon because yours broke. As opposed to... Just using your weapon until you're done?

How is that not interrupting the flow of combat still?

I dont want to argue, but you just seem to have missed the point of my analogy. In Link's world the sword is his non fictional friend that is in need. The hypothetical was if you had a friend with a broken leg you wouldnt be ok with them just getting a rake crammed into them as a temporary fix, so Link in his reality shouldnt be ok with doing that to a friend in need in his reality. A friend in need that also saved his life by telling Zelda how to save him. A friend that in skyward sword gave up their freedom to become a weapon against evil, and too be able to fight at their friends side throughout time.

Like I said I dont want to argue, so hopefully we can agree to disagree on this, and I apologize for not being able to express my thoughts in a way that is understandable.

It wasn't even a big deal in the original. I had loads of weapons in my inventory and never ran out even in Master Mode. Only real problem with durability is it affecting Master Sword. That should have never been the case

BotW was at its best when it came to how you traversed/interacted with the world. This game just really expanded on that.

Unknown for certain but it looks like the fused weapon will explode and you'll need to fuse a new one

It was explained in this topic but its pretty much giving you more options and to think on your feet while you play. There were always many reasons to fight but if you just ran in with the master sword all the time, you're basically just hacking and slashing. Setting fire to the field first to drop hp or swing your weapon into a boulder after stopping time was decent.

This is upgrading that idea of improvisation.

I didn't mind weapons breaking after I played for a while. There were almost always more than I could carry lying around anyway, so I'd just chuck an old one at the nearest enemy and pick up a shiny new one.

The only time it was a problem was in Master Mode, where enemies, especially gold ones, had oceans of health and they started recovering it almost immediately after you stopped attacking them. Even a decent inventory of weapons could barely take out random camps.

Also I can't wait to experiment with fusion and building shit.

They might not 'be' characters, but they do have character. Everybody has their favorite default item layout for just wandering the world and exploring. My setup for OOT was always Ocarina on Down C, Megaton Hammer on Right C, and Longshot on Left C.

On that note, the fact that there's no Hookshot in Breath of the Wild just feels wrong.
