Finally played Primal Rage 2. It... was ok. But I had to play the first one first. Because I never played the original Primal Rage. I knew of it, but I never played it until my second visit. Yesterday was my third.

The way you input commands in the first Primal Rage is so weird. Mainly because you hold the buttons down and then perform the motion input. Not sure what they were thinking. And the second game is still an unfinished beta. It's playable, but I had no clue what I was doing aside from button mashing.

On a side note, I sometimes forget how playing on an actual arcade joystick feels like sometimes, especially in regards to fighting games. I'm more used to playing them with a D-Pad so this the more of a me problem. I should buy one of those someday to get used to it.

Man, I loved primal rage as a kid, even had some of the toys and such. I didn't really know how to play it other then button mashing though, and years later looked up combos for the characters and they are all god awful inputs, a very strange system lol. I think primal rage 2, don't you play as the followers of the different dino gods and use a super meter to transform into them?

I knew Primal Rage 2 was a prototype but never knew the cabinet was out there in the world. Looking at the game list, there's a few very rare cabinets they have there. I didn't even know there was a Beavis and Butthead arcade game that was cancelled. This place has probably the only one left in existence.

Part of me wish that the og developers of this game would pick this up again and finish it. PR2 looks much better than the first game.

Oh that's because the devs wanted it to be "unique" without considering for playability. A later version was released that uses traditional Capcom style special moves.

Speaking of rare cabinets, they have the Alpha Renewal version of Undercover Cops. It's a very rare version of the game based on the fully completed Japanese version of the game, but in English. They got the Western version initially, but I shot them an email to upgrade it to that particular version with showcased the differences and even a youtube video showing how to convert the board which involved swapping some roms.

That must've been a later release then. They didn't have it though, so no matter. Did the console ports fix that at least?

Now that I'm not sure of.

They allegedly have the board for the unreleased Capcom Fighting All-Stars as well.

It's been really cool seeing arcade bars - not just springing up but thriving, even during/after the pandemic :)
