most fanbases are obsessed with an IP they love staying how it was when they where a kid

but metroid fans we are always wanting a new experience pandering to our nostalgia is a quick way to kill our interest in something

Meanwhile many of them actually think NES Metroid is a good game

They only get like one game per gen

Its hard to make topics like this without appearing to pander to your own fanbase. You're not outside looking in. That being said, Metroid fans are fairly quiet people. It helps that Metroid games aren't coming out every other year either.

I can't say anything about Zelda fans as I'm one of them but I will say that we are pretty divided right now. Especially after Breath of the Wild.

no i love dark samus as a villian but no she had a good final boss fight and satisfying end

granted there is ONE way i think this could work if say you are able to fight VR copies of old bosses and get special rewards

aka put the fanservice like that off tot he side as optional content

but yea i want prime 4 to focus on new ideas give me a new favorite villian

I think it's because Zero Mission, Fusion, and Prime came out before everyone started complaining about everything

I love how a lot of Nintendo games had a 'dark' version of the protagonist lol.

Dark Link, Dark Pit, Dark Samus.

I think it comes down to the fact that they never really break away from the genre. Metroid games are fun, but they don't really do anything groundbreakingly different. The biggest change was Prime which people did complain about, but it turned out to be so good that everyone shut up.

Too few games, too little explored and not enough bad games in the series.

It's not really a proper example of the trope, it's Bowser Jr disguising himself as Mario to frame him for vandalizing Delfino Island.

I guess TC forgot the chunk of the fandom that despises Fusion for not being a 'proper' Metroidvania experience.
