You play as Koopaland? What ever Bowser rules

And the Mushroom kingdom is trying to invade you to rescue Peach each time
You could have different towers and stuff based on koopas and other things like hammer bros but then it could be like dungeon defenders in 3d/fps where you take control of different troops and use their abilities and stuff to try to kill off the mushroom kingdom soldiers and then for boss mobs they can be powered up like a racoon power up means it can avoid floor traps

But if it's fan made, Nintendo will just aggressively slam the creator with cease and desist notices until the game is gone

Good idea! I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't tried this yet.

It already is, just in reverse.

Times like this is when I feel 'just take up game making courses online and spend all your free time instead of getting a job' is a good idea

well they did do some games based on bowser and they had the whole extra mode for bowsers minions. so it's possible but yea i would definitely expect it to be about the good guys instead. but would be cool if they split it up into 2 campaigns for good and evil teams.
