https://nypost.com/2023/03/23/transgender-cyclist-wins-nyc-womens-race/

A transgender cyclist proudly said she felt like a superhero while winning her latest womens race in New York just days after a former champ quit the sport in anger at losing to another trans rider. Tiffany Thomas, 47, was photographed with her arms aloft in victory at the top of the podium at the Randalls Island Crit on Saturday at least her 20th win since she started racing in 2018, while already in her 40s. The NYC-based biologist posted photos of herself in full flight from the race while wearing the bright orange team kit of her team sponsor, LA Sweat. Im not going to lie, sometimes it made me feel like a superhero when I wore it, she said alongside one image of her fully focused in the NYC race. Playing bikes with friends is what this sport is all about, the self-styled fancier of fitness wrote alongside another. Thomas who also regularly posts pics of her weightlifting received love and support in response to her messages, with one person writing: You are a superhero and one of the smartest scientists I know!!

However, her win soon started a severe backlash with an NYC cycling outlet that posted her podium pics disabling the flood of angry comments. One critic said they feel so bad for woman athletes in America that have trained their entire lives to lose out to transgender athletes who some experts say carry a genetic advantage even after hormone therapy. We are destroying womans rights in America, the anonymous critic tweeted. Thomas win came just days after champion cyclocross rider Hannah Arensman confirmed she was quitting in anger over the issue. I have decided to end my cycling career, she said last Wednesday in a statement included in a Supreme Court filing over the issue. She said in her last race, in the elite womens division of the UCI Cyclocross National Championships in late December, she came in 4th place, flanked on either side by male riders awarded 3rd and 5th places. My sister and family sobbed as they watched a man finish in front of me, having witnessed several physical interactions with him throughout the race, she wrote, in a statement also shared by the Independent Council on Womens Sports (ICONS). Additionally, it is difficult for me to think about the very real possibility I was overlooked for an international selection on the US team at Cyclocross Worlds in February 2023 because of a male competitor. She said that it has become increasingly discouraging to train as hard as I do only to have to lose to a man with the unfair advantage of an androgenized body that intrinsically gives him an obvious advantage over me, no matter how hard I train.

Good for her. What an amazing win by her.

Found her on Road Results. I'd post the webpage but I don't know if that's moddable or not.

It's missing her results from 2023 but this lady doesn't seem like she's a dominant racer at all, most of her finishes are somewhere between 10th-18th place. Seems like she did good for this one race and now she's all over the internet because now she fits a narrative.

But here's the thing though, she isn't competetive at all. You wouldn't feel this strongly when you look at her average races where she's coming in 11th place, you're only looking at this one race where she did well enough to win and assume there's a point to be made when there really isn't.

What was her record before transition amongst men?

Sure she could have normally place 10-18th in the women race, but if before transition she was placing like 50th amongst male competitors that would seem like a notable difference IMO.

11th place is nothing to scuff at, unless there's like a handful of riders.

She's still not "utterly dominating due to an unfair physical advantage" like is trying to be spun by the right, so that's all that matters.

Her record suggests she's only been racing against women since 2017. So unless she's been racing as anything but Tiffany Thomas then I have nothing else to go off of. The results for the Randall Crit for 2023, or any other race for 2023 aren't on her page yet but the last time she performed in this race was in 2021. In that race she came in 31/32 and then she raced in another heat 2 weeks later for this race and came in 27/30. It seems her best years were in-between 2017 and 2019, but her performance since then has been pretty shitty, so good for her for finally winning a race after 4 years of trying.

And yeah sounded like she worked for this victory and well deserved. They weren't complaining all this time when she wasn't winning for the past 5 years.
