I know overtime is usually 1.5x regular pay but I'd rather do 8 hours on the job then leave

Long ago, 'hard work' meant things like making sure your village had water or food for the elderly. Noble reasons and just causes to work 'overtime'.

But peole are now brainwashed into believing the marketing that working your butt off for 'the man' is somehow something to be proud of.

My current job is the first time I haven't dreaded overtime, but I'll never be "eager" to work it. It's just good for some extra money sometimes and getting caught up on stuff.

This topics good timing after just finishing my 12.5 hour shift today (in reality I started at 8am and just finished at 11:30pm with gaps in between)

of course I actually I hate these days and dont know how people could enjoy it outside of needing the money. Im my case were just having a really rough week .

This. If you actually have to do it to survive then that's understandable, but people who brag about how much they work are just weird. Like why tie your own identity to labor?

In my case, I need the money with a mortgage to pay and 2 kids to feed

youll likely not breed judging on this soy response. I run my own business and I never leave my house. Everything is delivered to me and all my money comes to me. The only time I am not working is when Im sleeping. I dont care about being rich. I reject vanity, narcissism, fame, etc. I work because I am not a loser. I work because I want to leave something behind.

Before I had my own business, I was in the literal trenches. Army infantry. I was a bouncer at a strip club. I wasnt trying to impress anyone. My sole purpose was to free myself from the shackles of the system.

I did. I dont like the government. Never have. I despised someone telling me what to do. I am a free man. I am only a free man because I sacrificed and played by the systems rules long enough to free myself. Now Im free. Im as off grid as can be. You sound just like the trillions of human beings eaten by the sands of time. Forgotten. Useless. Worth nothing.

I work about 60 to 70 hours a WEEK.

I make just enough money that I can pay my rent and utilities and hobbies without having overtime. Granted, I'm single and while I do have a daughter, i get help from my family.
