It was typical post Land Before Time Bluth. Good premise, great animation and characters, meandering plot and a ton of moments that add nothing to the story.

It was DoA kind of movie. Hell, animation in this day of age is still regarded as a kids movies even though there been many that goes against that narrative. It wasn't a kind of movie that would've been able to see much success.

Basically performing so bad it closed down Fox animations studios and basically put Don Bluth's career to a halt. It was an unfortunate situation all around.

Now the iron giant, thats a movie that underperformed and deserved better, more success, more returns, more mainstay in the public eye

Having heavy airtime gave it more recognition, but the movie was still a bomb, and has never made back its budget.
