Despite something being funny, very rarely do I laugh out loud. Movies (or tv shows) tends to be funnier when Im watching it in the movies or with family.

That's not uncommon, it's a social thing.

I think I adopted what Im calling "asshole humor". It's when you only laugh at things instead of with things. I don't mind being laughed at, so I come out not looking like a huge asshole. But over time I was thinking about it and realized only an asshole would adopt this humor. Im most likely not gonna laugh if you tell me joke. But if you tell me a story of how you shit yourself at the grocery store and had to cover it up, Im gonna have a good ol time. I think it's cause everyone Im around laughs at themselves. But if I was to be put in a circle of people who take themselves really serious, Id look like an asshole when I laughed at their serious stories.

This is pretty common though. So, maybe someone already named it.

It could also just be that written humor can have a shelf life as to where real life events will always be funny because it's not trying as hard.

Never. I might let a little snicker slipout every once in a while but that's all.

It's extremely rare. I can think something's hilarious, and you'd never know unless I told you.

I couldn't even tell you the specific criteria for getting me to laugh out loud, because there are some things that achieve that that I find less funny than some things that don't.

Depends on if something is actually funny.

I thought I didn't laugh at TV anymore, until I started watching It's Always Sunny.

Only if I'm alone. I get so annoyed when I'm with someone who laughs so loud that I miss something.
