Great game. Can't wait to see what celebrities Kojima scans into the sequel.

How did this largely poorly received game receive a sequel?

Or maybe it was received better than I thought?

The DC has an 85

iirc, it was partly funded by Sony and sold alright for the PS4 & its release for the PC also helped.

it might not have had amazing sales, but it was profitable, I think.

Boring game tbh

First one definitely had some problems, but in general, I'd be down for another. It'd be nice if I could actually kill an enemy without leaving a ten-mile-wide death crater behind, though...just in case you're reading this topic, Hideo.

It was fun. The people that are really vociferous about not liking it are usually the same weird people that act like mgsv pushed them down and stole their lunch money so i tend to ignore them

or maybe people just have their own legitimate reasons for disliking it.

I tried a bit of it but did not finish it. Did not quite like it. I kind of want to try it again, however.

One of the coolest things about Death Stranding is how it makes inventory management engaging and fun, and integral to the gameplay. It's pretty much the only game where it isn't a pointless chore. RE4 too I guess but even that just feels unnecessarily restricting at times.

People must really like mailman simulators.

I hope the cast is just 30 other directors.

MGS4 & 5 are garbage i was so happy to see Kojima leave Solid Snake alone and do something else. Cant wait for DS2 loved the 1st game

MGS5 felt tired this game felt fresh

Game only for the refined people like me who love the taste of their own farts. I know most say "the smell", but that's cause they're not scholared enough to know how to taste them. Smelling is elementary

really? i loved mgsv but i just could not get into d.s. Maybe that's really odd, idk

I'm sure you're not serious but this critique of the game comes up all the time and its so funny because DS is like the most video game ass video game.

I can think of plenty of reasons I will probably never play it.

It's a good game but some of the areas were such a slog to get through, like any area with snow until you got those warming pads that helped you move more quickly through the stuff, or those really rocky, mountainous areas that you couldn't even zipline your way through until much later because the game wouldn't let you place structures until those assholes joined the network. Having an actual plot reason to not kill people was pretty cool through, wish more games did that sort of thing.

reasons why I think it's terrible -

• poor writing/narrative - how do you make a story about the afterlife, execution events, and things in between as boring and "academic" as possible? by that I mean, you keep getting drawn out lectures by talking heads throughout the game. also, the world is incredibly small - Sam is connected to the extinction event, and he's also connected to Cliff, who's also connected to Deadman, etc.
• the characters are two-dimensional - it feels like they're written just to move along the plot, and there's no depth to them outside of the suffering they've experienced.
• the stealth and combat feel barebones - this isn't necessarily the worst part, since the game is less about fighting and killing, but these elements really suck when you're forced to fight
• the forced Time Fall sections of each story mission - these were not fun at all, IMO, especially when they turned into boss fights
• traversing the world was the "best" part, but it was still annoying and boring, and the fact that using vehicles was sometimes a hindrance was lame. I just used the power skeleton (fast moving one), and only carried what was necessary, since side-missions didn't really reward you with anything meaningful story wise.

overall, I'd give the game a 6/10, since I didn't have any technical issues, when I played, and the game played the way it was supposed to, even if it was extremely disappointing.
