I've been slacking. I preordered this in 2022, but it basically shipped and released in 2023 so I think it counts. Unfortunately the sleeve was slightly damaged in shipping. You can kind of see that bend in the top right.

Bass Drum of Death - Say I Won't (Translucent red with white swirl)

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/7/0/9/AABOVBAAESll.jpg

I have a short list of stuff I want that's released so far this year, so I'll probably get on that next payday. I spent last month on the road so I didn't order anything in February.

Anyways, have you made any music purchases this year? CD, Cassette, Vinyl, MP3 or otherwise.

I bought Music for the Masses and Violator by Depeche Mode on CD. I made sure to get the 1987 version of Music for the Masses because it has Agent Orange and the newer pressings don't have it and the other bonus tracks.

I've also got some death metal, crust, thrash and anarcho-punk.

Digitally. I think it was just some Count Your Lucky Stars label stuff. I miss ordering cds. Anyone hear about the Interpunk stuff story??!! It's actually pretty interesting. They were stealing your money and very little new stuff in stock so I stopped buying from there, OR SO we thought. I don't really bother going there anymore, but they actually got their warehouse/storage locked because the owner decided their space was more useful to something else. So you could keep ordering stuff and it would never be sent but it really wasn't their fault.

I think they got a new warehouse, but Interpunk was fucking cool, basically the first real music website where you could get rare shit. I should just make an interpunk topic, But I regret not buying an exclusive Millencolin Interpunk shirt there. I just have a picture of it hehehe

I bought a lot of stuff from Interpunk back in the mid 2000s and a bit beyond that. All good experiences.

It's been a while since I've bought from them but I've heard nothing but bad things about how Interpunk is these days.

Cool acab I haven't bought anything from them since like a very long time. But I can absolutely some of this. They were unable to send me the new 88 FINGERS LOUIE heh album but they sent me some old stuff still. I saw a post from them about how they raised their rent and they couldn't pay it so they got locked out.

Capitalism. Also too I guess it is easier to sell your own stuff with no overhead, but Interpunk was the shit once. It was like finding Something Awful but for music.

I have a cheapass interpunk coozie I got from them still in the mid 2000s when I spent 50. On Reddit (hey) that's where you get the horror stories, but I tried to explain why. I still feel like unfortunately now they just got outdated.

All this talk about interpunk. I nearly bought from them somewhat recently (within the last 10 years) and dodged a bullet I guess when I didn't. I grew up buying punk CDs, shirts from them in the early to mid 00s. Their free samplers got me into a ton of different bands/music.

At first listen, it's one of their worst imo. Title track, Silent Running, and Skinny Apr are dope, but the rest are kinda meh.

Why the fuck do you get Stevie Nicks to do some background vocals, heavily processed at that? I was expecting a chorus or verse or something, but nope.

I am sure they have their new warehouse now. But it's not like it used to be. Also why release an exclusive shirt there when you can just sell it directly through your social media connections.

It's something. I think physical media is a more substantial contribution to musicians though generally, despite them making most of their money from other merch and concerts these days. Streaming is still part of the pie, but it's not as substantial from what I understand.

I just received this in an email from a company- granted they WANT to sell vinyl but "Did you know that purchasing a vinyl gives 2500x more money to the artists than streaming it online?"

I'm not sure if it's true, but the ballpark is believable for physical media generally.

Nice! I really enjoyed Mac DeMarco's Here Comes the Cowboy, also at a great price. My last purchase from Mac was 2 (10th Anniversary Edition) from bandcamp not long ago!

I just pre-ordered FIDLAR's That's Life EP on what appears to be a 12" Cream / Blue / Pink split. The shipping was killer though at $9, but the company they went through is not U.S. based from what I can tell.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/4/3/AABOVBAAETWj.jpg

Still excited to get my hands on it sometime in May.

Purchasing digital music certainly counts. This year that's all I did purchase was digital b/c a mix of being impatient and feeling like it's just going to be put onto my phone anyway. I love seeing a good vinyl collection but sometimes I'll buy a cd and it'll be really bare bones. Cool I have it but no reason to actually own cds often times b/c the packaging is so bare minimum.

Yeah I've seen a lot of CD releases that are bare minimum lately. I miss the days when the standard was that they would actually come with multi-page booklet, often with lyrics in a higher quality plastic case.

Where do you purchase your digital music? It used to be iTunes for me, but now it seems like Bandcamp would be my go-to for that approach.

Luckily most physical media on Bandcamp comes with a high quality digital version.

Yea Bandcamp for sure digitally. I bought some on Amazon a long time ago but it was also a Sharks Keep Moving spin off of Minus the Bear and some Minus the Bear actually. So I was hoping they didn't screw them over too bad since they were known.

I bought a cd from cdbaby like seven years ago. How are they still around? But that one time, at band camp.
