History, followed closely by foreign language, although it depends on the language pool your school offer and weather or not you're interested.

I personally would have loved it if Japanese was taught vs Spanish and France which I wasn't interested in.

I don't think my high school had drama/theater though, or I don't remember it.
The education system botches foreign language education more than any other subject at least where I went to school. We were expected to learn how to write it correctly immediately with spelling mistakes being counted in full. Like I can see taking away full credit for misspelling a word but all the credit? That's fucked up. You know it's out of hand where math is more forgiving of getting part of it right than learning a foreign language.

History would be second. We over emphasize American history over world history and it hurts our understanding of other countries.

History felt like the same shit every year. Every year was US history except a single year in 10th grade where they jammed the rest of the world into "World History."

At least with the other subjects, there was a sense of progression as subjects get harder.

Wow, we at least coverd Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome in 6th grade. When we got to high school we got 2 years of world history instead of 1.

I chose P.E. because it's the only class where you never really learn anything, and it rarely is the class that inspires students to follow that teaching into their careers.

Art you can learn expression, theater and drama as well, music you learn music (obviously), and all the core classes teach you those skills, while computer can future proof you by learning how to work with tech.

P.E. just reminds you how to walk/run and maybe sometimes throw a ball. But if your passion is sports, you're not getting to really play those in P.E. so you can't attribute that to your sports career or anything.

Anything above algebra 2 in math.

Algebra is useless entirely unless you're going into a scientific or mathematical field.

Imagine if they actually taught you how to exercise in PE. The right form for exercises and how to follow a proper routine. How to actually play sports instead of just throwing us out there.

This is so wrong and tbh the people who say math is useless (like at all) probably had bad experiences learning math and hate it for that reason so why should we be listening to them

Just for example math knowledge is extremely important in personal finance.

Basic algebra is something everyone does without even knowing "solve for x" just happened.
The quadratic formula, however, comes up mostly never in daily life.

PE in how it's typically taught.
Learned nothing about proper form or anything. In fact, the lifting advice we were given invited injury. Learning history or art incorrectly isn't gonna tear your rotator cuff

my pe was dodgeball, pacer test, some calisthenics, mile run every few weeks, and tag football. never did weightlifting in that class that was reserved for the sports people. now that i think about it we never got weightlifting advice either.

i hated running so much. i have naturally low lung capacity (had to use inhalers and do the breath out tests to monitor lung capacity when i was a child) so had to work a bit harder to get up to speed with other people. had friends that'd casually do like 6 min miles I capped out at around 7:10 to 7:20 min mile max never got below it i felt like dying after that.

I loved PE, but it's by far the most useless. Kids obviously need play and relaxation times, not P E, whatever the fuck that is. PE is like conditioning kids to have a military mindset or something.

I think specific classes could be good, like yoga, lifting, or running. And treat it like a real course where you learn technique/form, alongside purpose, history and context.

As far as keeping kids in shape, the answer lies in diet and nutrition. Kids are overweight because of what the eat, not do.
