The soldiers? They don't even know. The film crew also has tech that makes them and their equipment invisible and incorporeal to the locals. They are basically ghosts

How far back do we go? The Black Plague devastated Europe, so much that genetic diversity took a tumble, due to it. Should we fix that?

Or how about Neanderthals, should we save them? How about Homo floresiensis?

I think someone said it well on another website:
The moral problem is not whether it is moral to cause or not cause a predictable outcome; the moral problem is whether it is moral to meddle with things when the outcome is absolutely unpredictable.
The problem isn't whether you should play god or not; the problem is whether you should use god-like powers when you haven't got a clue what you are doing.

One theory of Time-travel is you can never travel to the period before you invented the Time Machine, which would make ethical decisions much more easy.

Pretty much this. Meddling with tine is immoral and dangerous.

That said, we have footage of wars going back to at least WWII. So on those grounds it isn't wrong.

Earliest war footage that still exists was filmed at Orange River in South Africa in November 1899, during the Boer War.

There's a decent theory that we can turn space itself into a telescope, and observe things that happened quite a while ago.

No one is talking about saving things or stopping wars and plagues. This is more about documentation for preservation of history and knowledge.

You 9bviously shouldn't have a God complex and change history. The entire world would change.
