It's cheating, but I consider it to be 'soft' cheating since I only really do it for segments of a level that take a long time to get back to. For example, Super Mario 64. The star behind the waterfall on Tall Tall Mountain. I missed the jump like four times and had to run the entire stage from bottom to top because I kept getting swept down the waterfall. Eventually I made a save state standing in front of it so I could try the jump a few times in a row. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. I know it goes against the whole rogue element but I really wanted to experience the later stages of the game (farthest I ever got was The Tower of Eternal Flames).
