I don't see a problem with it. The MCU has already introduced a Native American character in Echo anyway.

I like the finger paint aspect of the design. Anyone know if that's a Native American thing or just a design choice by the artist?

The design is so similar that I'd believe it if you told me she was created to push unsold Pocahontas merchandise. Add a little face paint, maybe do some slight retooling of the chest and sleeves, and a Pocahontas toy becomes a Kahhori toy.

Design is pretty good. I hope they don't make it be their whole identity

I like that they made her look & outfit, her entire design Native American. Otherwise thered be no way to know what she was. This way Native American readers can identify with her. So progressive!

Hasn't been specified yet but she's going to appear in a What If...? episode where the Tessaract fell on her tribe's land upon arriving at Earth, so I would imagine that they're based on the Space Stone's powers in some way.

Pretty good design overall but I'm not to big a fan of the face paint.

Also this is just a peave of mine but I'm really hoping she's not also a super genuis. Which seems to be a skill tacted onto almost every black superhero nowadays.

It's getting kind of redundant and borderline lazy in my opinion.

The only problematic thing is going to be that it's from the very bad, What If show. I think that show marked the trend of me not caring about the MCU as much.

Inclusion is weird.

Chief Thunder in killer instinct had these badass NativeAmerican style chants after winning a round, and then in one of his fatalities he would do a rain dance (chants and all) and fucking burn you with a thunder coming from the sky, Thor style.

they decided it was offensive (I thought it was badass) and censored that for the snes conversion and cut him for ki2.

I kinda get both sides of this.

On one hand, it's stereotypical if not outright offensive to have Native American characters play tribal warriors. On the other hand, if your desire is to have a tribal warrior character, how and when are you ever going to get a chance to have that kind of character except with members of specific ethnic groups?

I might suggest introducing a Native American character who wears a business suit by day and a Daredevil/Cyclops/Nighthawk costume by night and introducing a tribal warrior character later on. But nobody wants to wait and introduce the character they really want in a year or two. They want to introduce them right away. And what are the odds that the first character would even receive any effort since they're just a holdover until the writer can introduce the character they really want to?

That's because the pre-2013 Thunder was designed without any consultation from actual Native American tribes and was just a confused collection of tropes and stereotypes, some of which (like a phoenix being part of his moveset) don't even come from any Native American tribe's culture at all and is a wide misconception.

The episode takes place in the Mohawk language and is informed by the history of the Akwesasne region in what is now upstate New York.

I dont know man. I understand the intent, but I do not think actual yoguis or Indians were consulted to create dhalsim, with his 3 skull collar and yoga fire stuff. Honda is a fat sumo that launches into you head first screaming chop suey!, etc.

as long as the stereotype didnt mean to be offensive, should it be a big deal? Imagine having to consult actual karateka to come up with ryu, actual trust fund babies to come up with Ken, actual Spanish matadors for Vega, etc
