But the point remains. Children do not belong in restaurants. Train them at home and make sure they are capable of sitting still and using their indoor voice for an hour before you ruin the steakhouse for everyone else.

that is why you have to bring ear protection everywhere. you can get the earmuff ones for like 20 bucks. for a few bucks more you can combine it with the earplugs type for double hearing protection and you will barely hear them.

I brought my kids to restaurants all the time when they were little. They behaved.

Nah, toddlers are generally fine. Crying infants can be a problem, but some infants are chill asf. Some parents do need to use more discretion on how their kids behave though.

But what parents should stop doing is pretending that they're "making memories" when they take their 5 and under kids somewhere. They aren't gonna remember most of that stuff lol

It's more about the parents being good people and understanding the temperaments and needs of their children. By a certain age, children not being able to sit still for an hour is a sign you're doing something wrong and need to step back. Anyone who thinks all kids are just naturally like that clearly has issues being a proper parent.

I think it depends on the restaurant. If it's one like Applebee's or whatever some franchise/local diner etc than yeah rkids can come. If it's at a restaurant where you're paying 30ish dollars a meal than yeah, I would say you should be 13+ to be there rbh

I knew I would run into replies like this ITT.

I have no idea why some people feel so entitled. You are not entitled to make others suffer for your decisions in life. You chose to have a toddler? I am very happy for you.

but I do not have to listen to loud crying, having kids do things such as smearing snot everywhere on purpose, sticking their hands into the buffet food bins, running everywhere, etc. why is it such a taboo opinion to have?

but my kid is well educated and doesnt do that. Awesome, youre a good parent, then TCs statement, or at least mine doesnt apply to your kid, it applies to the ones I mentioned above.

lets not forget the golden eel tried to make CE a parenting issues and toddler general board, that is the level of entitlement were dealing here.
