Yep! I think I tried like, three, back in the day. But what put me off them was the creepy people who were the only players left.

Yeah, i played some for awhile. iirc the one i played the most was called Domina and was based off of Magic the gathering.

A MUD (/md/; originally multi-user dungeon, with later variants multi-user dimension and multi-user domain)[1][2] is a multiplayer real-time virtual world, usually text-based or storyboarded. MUDs combine elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, player versus player, interactive fiction, and online chat. Players can read or view descriptions of rooms, objects, other players, non-player characters, and actions performed in the virtual world. Players typically interact with each other and the world by typing commands that resemble a natural language

I played some pseudo one called vagabonds quest where everyone did not roleplay at all but just continuously challenged each other to duels to endlessly grind experience points.
