Lucy...

You got some 'splainin to do if you don't like the show.

I remember mostly how I Love Lucy reruns would be the first thing to come on immediately after Saturday morning cartoons were finished, which was my cue to go outside or play video games.

I'll be honest I spent most of my life thinking this was just a shitty ass old show with antiquated humor that didn't hold up, and that opinion was entirely made based on me half assed watching in the background when I left the tv going long enough for it to start playing nick at nite.

When I was about 22 though my girlfriend made me watch it and I really did enjoy it. Slapstick comedy like they do sometimesdoes kind of fall into that "antiquated humor' thing for me, I don't get the appeal at all but I realize old timers ate this shit up so fair enough. The rest of the jokes were mostly still funny though, as well as just being generally interesting to see what sort of crazy hijinks she was getting into this episode.

Also was just cool to see all the old shit too.

Fred Mertz is such a champ too. I went to the Lucy museum in Jamestown. That was an unplanned stop there, but I was happy to go with my mom and my older brother who yea didn't like the show apparently.

Loved it in the NY apartment. The Connecticut episodes are weird af and the LA episodes clearly ran out of ideas but still manages to pull some really great scenes together here and there. It's quality isn't super consistent, but even at it's lows, it's still pretty fantastic.

I remember my mom was always pissed off that they didn't bring Little Ricky when they moved to Hollywood, but prioritizing your job over your own kids like that was probably more common at the time.

Pretty good show. I always ignored it as a kid but i finally gave it a chance later on.

I liked it, even as a kid. Lucy was so magnetic and I probably thought Ricky was cute.

It's not my favorite out of the old Nick at Nite lineup, but it was a great show that I watched a lot of. I'd also highly recommend the Mary Tyler Moore Show, that show was fantastic.

Can't imagine how expensive filming something in color on what has to be a relatively portable device was in 1951.

I remember staying up late as a kid to watch The simpsons followed by I love Lucy on syndication. I watched a few episodes a couple of years ago and it still holds up pretty well. She was a comedic genius

It blew my mind when I found out the "Uh oh" lady in the studio audience was actually Lucy's real life mom. I always noticed her when I was watching the show but had no idea

Grew up watching reruns on Nick At Nite.

I was surprised to learn that William Frawley and Vivian Vance didn't get along in real life. And when Frawley passed away, Vance celebrated his passing.

That's horrible if true also Lucy and Ricky didn't really end well either.

I know nothing about the Lucy Show or spin-offs. I'd watch a Fred Murtz spin off.

Apparently Vance was dining with her husband at a restaurant when she heard the news of Frawley's passing and shouted "Champagne for everybody!"

A Mertz spinoff was actually proposed and despite his feud with Vance, Frawley was up for it. But Vance refused.

I love sad things but at the moment if I don't do my own research I don't believe you. Also this is how bad cheat codes got passed in the Playstation 1 days.

Well google wasn't around during the PS1 days, so that's probably why false cheat codes were able to be passed around.

It's really obvious Lucy and Ricky had a public breakup.

Great show. Watched it a lot with my mom. Got the DVD set. Same with the Desi/Lucy movie The Long Long Trailer.

Heh reminds me how Norm MacDonald wanted to be called Norm Henderson in the Norm Show....

I only bring it up because he has that sort of dead pan humor too that Bob was famous for. Also Norm wouldn't respond to anyone unless they said Norm haha
