You'd think in late-stage capitalism, the credit card companies would not be so willing to dump fraudulent charges. But it's never really been a problem for me or anyone I've ever talked to.

It's probably works out better that way for the CC companies by maintaining consumer trust and confidence, but also it's the law.

Are you talking about if you've been duped on something or if someone stole and is using your card?

You got lucky. I got fraud charges in my card 10 years ago and I never got the money back.

I dunno when I got double charged by Zaxby's and the manager wouldn't undo it or pay me back, I talked to my bank about it and they also told me to go fuck myself. I had to take matters into my own hands and I made a lot more work for everyone involved because nobody would do one simple thing.

Don't most give you the benefit of the doubt for three or so? I mean if you really wanted to goon it up you could probably cry wolf a few times.

I never had this happen to me with CC though one time I think I gave a fake pin away through e-mail/website or something. I don't even remember and then to myself at the time I was like yo good luck.

My bank actually called me a day or two later and was like yeah there were dozens of attempts to withdraw money from your account that failed. We are sending you a new card and number.

All they're doing is reversing the charges. They don't lose anything. And if you lie, the original seller can still sue/call the cops on you.

They don't reverse them. They take the Financial hit if it's a small charge. They investigate larger fraud charges.

I don't know how this changes what I said since the small charge amount is usually $50 or less. Some banks like Chase have a $15 threshold.

And yeah, they reverse the charge after investigation or get reimbursed by the original merchant. Again, no loss to them since the liability is passed onto the original merchant in most cases.

I'm not debating this so I'll just reiterate once. Small charges don't get investigated. Fraudster keeps the goods. Merchant gets paid, bank takes a hit. You get your charge reversed. But the actual charge still exists.

Yeah why do ppl call regretful charges fraudulent? It's rather simple to go thru life without fraud charges. Methinks you are tryna game it. Tryna milk it. You know what you're doing.

But hey, godspeed. Its a ratrace. Go get you yours!

When we were planning for our wedding, after paying like $4k towards the fee for the reception, we learned that the location had gone into full bankruptcy.

I just had to get some papers proving that they were in bankruptcy, and the credit card company got me my money back pretty easily. I was surprised it was so pain free. Even thought when I think about it, there's no way they should be able to deny giving me back my money. The vendor literally couldn't provide the service we had paid for

Debate what? Who is even denying what you just said? I acknowledged that amount is usually $50 and some banks are as low as $15.

For everything else, what I said is what happens and the original merchant takes the loss. Not to mention that bank/debit adheres to a different set of laws compared to credit cards, so you working at PNC might not be exactly relevant.
