A joke requires that you have empathy or observation towards a situation, place, or person. Conservatism is based around being utterly incapable of thoughts about others beyond what is given through the ruling class. It is why the most common mentality for a conservative is being angry at whatever the most recent piece of propaganda told them to be angry about, unless they have a personal stake in something else that they were similarly told to be angry about.

Because it cares more about spreading a political message than being funny. Political humor isn't inherently unfunny but when you care more about spreading your personal beliefs it just sucks. Look at the difference between The Colbert Report and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It's hard to believe they're the same guy but he cares more about politics than being funny or unique.

I did find humor in it's origin story, that interviewer trying to cover up what the crowd was chanting.

But, as with any joke, it lost it's luster once it got played out.

Let's Go Brandon was championed by conservatives, but it wasn't made by them. It was from the news anchor reporting the race. And not even as a joke, just a kind of sad attempt to pretend that the person said something else. So the "conservative humor" part of it was repeating it over and over, otherwise it was a liberal thing.

The anger and pointing out that vulnerable groups are actually bad you know is their whole point. That stuff comes first, second, and third before the funny.

So you end up with repeating the same joke because it attacks the same thing they view as absurd.

Or you end up with them just stating their actual political views on stage, with a mic in hand and a laugh sign behind them, no punch line, no set up.

It's not that it's impossible, but it requires actually addressing social issues in a relevant way. But they don't get that, and they think you can't make race jokes or gender jokes or trans jokes nowadays. No, you absolutely can. They just have to be original and distinguishable from a Tucker Carlson segment. All they have to do is check to see whether the group they're talking about is the butt of the joke, but they never do because that IS the point for them.

It's literally just anger and complaints. "Haha men think they're women and pronouns are stupid m I rite? Joe Biden is a senile and gonna destroy us all for his commie handlers. Attack helicopters!"

Art in general has a left slant. Anything that brands itself as "conservative" or "right-wing" has an agenda baked in.

"But a lot of people complain about he right" Ok? I don't think bitching about Trump for an hour is funny either at this point.

Most comedy or any entertainment form is not billing itself as <insert political leaning>, especially not anything good.

Most of it probably is bad, I don't really venture into it. But a lot of stuff is just people wanting to see the worst the opposite side has to offer and the best their side has to offer, then comparing those unfairly.

In the end, the people not politically aligned on either end are gonna end up not letting emotions effect their humor and will be able to find the deeper jokes unhindered by biases. Political humor as a whole ages terribly. It has a very small shelf life and once everyone with nostalgia for it is gone, it won't have any place to go.

The best comedians are usually those you can't tell where they fall politically because they go after everyone.

I've thought about this.

I think it's because they see the world in black and white.

Humor takes a lot of nuances which they don't seem to have the gene for.

And yes, I honestly do believe that.

Yeah. When you include yourself as the target of ridicule, you tell the audience it is OK to laugh at you. You aren't trying to joke about "them" and implicitly put yourself above them. I love watching Jim Gaffigan. He makes fun of himself being a bad father, bad husband, overweight, and what have you. He's saying "look at me, I'm an idiot". Now if he switched to saying that about his wife, it takes a whole new meaning and would come across as cruel and insulting.

Yerp. Self-depreciating humor is extremely common as a way to make people understand that you do not view yourself as a special snowflake or above having your views challenged. It is why basically the oldest leftist joke is about making fun of leftists for not getting anything done because of a disagreement about something ridiculously inconsequential (the first version I remember hearing was the disagreement about the color of socks needed).

conservatism is by and large about maintaining the status quo of a ruling class and holding down the lower class, and as it turns out, its more fun to point and laugh at the shitty old white guys that run everything than it is to defend them or demean everyone else that isnt them
