Trump is too stupid to actually conduct the like, fascism the Conservative Party wants to install, and he's done all he really can riling up the MAGA crowd.

So the conservative movement wants to remove him and replace him with someone who is actually smart enough to destroy America the way conservatives want. But the problem is that a big part of Trumps appeal is that he's another stupid MAGA idiot who's drank his own Kool-aid. The MAGA crowd isn't gonna follow a generic idiot in a suit trying to do a Trump impression (DeSantis), and that fanaticism is required to actually pull the horrendous stuff the GOP wants to pull.

Because it's a hell of a lot easier for Fox News to spend all day nitpicking a sitting Democrat president than it is to constantly bend themselves into pretzels attempting to explain / justify Trump's endless rampaging dumbassery (especially now that being compelled to push Trump's election fraud agenda has put their whole company in jeopardy).

At this point I would honestly bet that Fox News wants Trump gone just as much as the staunchest Democrat does.

When you're "All In" on a candidate, you need to figure out how to validate everything they say or do.

As we're seeing with the Dominion lawsuit, Fox was struggling big time to defend all this "election fraud" news as time kept passing. And it got to that point with Trump as well.

Now with Biden in office, they can just nitpick every little move they he makes.

It's a lot easier to throw rocks at the guy at the top of the hill than shield your guy from all the rocks when they're at the top of the hill.

It's even harder when most of us have family members that are still on the crazy train too. So, you can see them operate on a normal level in a lot of places in life, but it's just this weird hold these beliefs have over them. I love attempting to dive into wild alternate perspectives, but this is one I just can't get. There's literally nothing redeemable about Trump.

As bad as it sounds, Id get it more if they were like "Yeah, we know Trump's kind of a douchebag and liar, but we think he'll do the things we want". At least that would show some self awareness. But instead, he has this love spell on everyone
