just started the download myself a few minutes ago. already like 78% of trophies on harry potter so far and the rest are like, complete all the collections, use ancient magic on every enemy (wtf?) and other things like that in which i have no interest

I have also purchased Octopath II. Just did Agnea's Ch. 1 so now I only have Temenos and Hikari left to recruit.

I admittedly haven't had time to play much since I haven't been home. I picked Partitio because he looked the coolest which felt like a mistake because his beginning is boring af.

How much did they improve character interaction?

The only thing I want to know is if the party members actually interact with each other this time or if they're still just awkwardly passive observers in each others' stories

Because that was really offputting about the first game, they didn't feel like an actual RPG party, they just felt like a bunch of combat functions

Seems mostly the same so far outside of the paired stories(none of which I've started). Partitio did have a unique line for Ochette recruiting him since she was my first character, but she didn't like reply to him or anything.

So far my favorite character intro has been Osvald or Ochette. Having the BP donating guy as your locked #1 isn't too bad though. I'd recommend Osvald(my favorite Ch. 1 so far), Throne, or Ochette if you want a less mundane Chapter 1.

Yep, this needs to be addressed before I even think about buying it.

I started with the hunter and then just finished the apothecary chapter 1.

No signs of much improvement on character interaction so far but it's still early. When I got to the apothecary town, there was a minor interaction where the apothecary needed a healing item to help a patient and you give it to her, but that was it so far

Either I lucked out with my party choices or there are a lot more party banters in some of the Chapter 2's in this game. During Temenos' Ch. 2 I actually saw relevant(to his story at the time) conversations with Ochette and Throne. It almost felt like a real JRPG party for a second there. I saw some other party banters during Throne and Ochette's Ch. 2 but they weren't super relevant to what was going on.

Okay, so that was exactly what I was looking for in the first game. You might've just convinced me to get it since I did enjoy the gameplay a lot in the first game.

Also did Hikari's Ch. 2 tonight. Agnea and Throne both chimed in with banter that pertained to his quest which was nice. If you do get the game I guess just pay attention to the party banter at the top right of the screen since they're easily missable.

I'll probably do one of the dual character stories tomorrow night to see if we get like three person banters.
