Was rolling through a friend's tinder and there were a lot of profiles of men like

"Scottish lad seeking blah blah".

Motherfucker we are in Scotland.

Do they do that where you're from? Do you do that?

Dunno about Scotland but I went to university in Aberystwyth in Wales (which had a p big contingent of English people like me) and I met a few people there who would take an insufferable, vocal pride in being Welsh and seemed to make "is Welsh; hates the English" their entire personality. I had a Welsh m8 who had decided to live in the only exclusively Welsh-speaking hall and she regretted it cause she said it was just filled with nobheads who tried to turn every conversation into some Welsh nationalist nonsense. It sounded rite weird.

So maybe it's like that. They exist in a community that is not exclusively made up of Scottish people and think being Scottish in Scotland is some great source of pride.

Ok I can actually understand these because it's an interesting personality trait. Like ooh, you're from an entirely different land, different culture, different language, different values, why are you here?

But if you're just canadian and you're like "canadian living in toronto", wtf dude

i mean if a lot of people travel to the area i don't see the issue with being clear that you're from the area

Seems like a surefire way to never get a match again.

For a while I had "just looking for casual" as one of the filters on my profile, and that dramatically reduced the number of matches as well as the quality of them.

I think there's a slightly toxic trait in a lot of people (including myself) where we want to fuck but we want the other person to like us just a little bit more than that.

I didn't announce I'm American when I used to use dating apps, but I would explain what ethnicity I was in the profile section since I'm mixed.

That's insecurity. When I reunite with other Latinos, we never talk about being Latino, we just live normally, like anyone else would. That's because we don't think or even realize we are Latino; it's something outsiders remind us of.

It's really those individuals that feel intimidated, envious of whites that feel the need to make their ethnic group their whole identity.
