Almost entirely because it does simple stuff very well. It's incredibly straightforward and accessible gameplay wise, its characters are all simplistic and fun, the story is interesting but also very easy to grasp. It does all of the most baseline stuff a JRPG is supposed to do pretty much perfectly. When you add on the pretty aesthetic and great music, it's a winning formula. It's not my favorite game in the genre from the era, or the most interesting, but I would say its probably the best executed ... Copied to Clipboard!
