Is the stigma against centralism something thats only found with online (aka left-leaning) sites? I never hear this stuff with people that arent terminally onli err, I mean, frequently visiting social media sites.
No, it's a real thing.

I dont know a single person who always takes a neutral opinion. every centrist Ive met supports some stuff the left does, supports some stuff the right does, and chooses their position independently of which side it comes from.

I dont think people described in OP exist in any sort of large number.
This. Describing them as "center" is based on averaging out their views on various issues, not on them picking the middle on every fucking issue. There again, the biggest reason that stereotype exists is because it's far easier to dismiss someone if you characterize them as "blindly picking the middle ground on everything" than if you have to actually accept that no, people don't always either agree on everything or disagree on everything.

It's the simple fact of people feel the need to assign everyone a label. Everything and everyone needs to be in a category, filed away in a neat little box labeled "left", "right", or "center".

Where? I live in PA and work for the fed, politics unfortunately come up constantly. Ive never seen tribalism as bad as on some sites like here.

It's really not. At least not in the real world, as political discussions rarely happen like they do online, and when they do, they don't hit a wide enough range of topics for everyone to get labeled left/right/center/whatever.

I think most "centrists" just seem to be able to weigh both options evenly, even if most of the "right" options tend to be crazy and very closed minded.

Like the ability to recognize that someone's religious beliefs will skew their view in reproductive and LGBTQ rights, even though they know that view is incorrect.
