I thought about this during the Super Bowl, and just remembered it. I never realized they now have drones with cameras now for some of the footage. But they looked like they might have been low enough for the ball to hit them

Not that Im aware of. But the ball doesnt really travel all that high, except for kickoffs and punts.

I think typically they keep the aerial cameras behind the play. If the balls gonna be up in the air, it's almost always gonna be going forwards, away from the cameras in that case.
