The people who were Telltale mostly formed a new company and are doing that Star Trek game, while the Telltale name is now used by a different company who are doing The Expanse and TWAU2.

very very, but it's incomplete. the books are excellent, too.

Eh I was satisfied with the book series, don't really need anything added.

So is it a bad idea to watch it then? Does it end on some cliff hanger?

it leaves some threads hanging, but not really a cliffhanger. but there are 9 books plus some short stories, and the show only gets through book 6. so, i'll always recommend the books first, and then if you're still interested, watch the show, too. it's not a 1:1 adaptation, but the differences feel complimentary, rather than retcons. so consuming both is definitely an option.

alternatively, you can start with the show, and then if you want, finish with the last three books. but because of the above, you'll need to find a description of what the show did differently, or you'll be a little confused.

they kept paying for new IPs and over expanded at a faster pace than they could make games

plus they kept using a terrible game engine and a lot of gamers got sick of it and stopped buying their games

they were also wildly inconsistent with episode releases, sometimes taking a good year or so to fully release the game after making the first part available to play
