The entire human population could fit into Delaware, with a population density on par with Hong Kong.
Good point, after all the #1 concern with population is not about resource consumption but rather how many toes we have to step on while moving about.

#1 concern
Human poop is vastly more toxic than the poop of anything else, and we poop a lot of it.

Capitalism does indeed demand degrowth. It is known.
I mean the idea of there being no resources. There are more than enough resources. They are just being hoarded and gatekept by the wealthy elite.

I always feel like people who say overpopulation is a myth have never worked in the retail or service industries.

Or can just like go out to places and not have to deal with traffic, overcrowded stores, etc.

That's just the logistical hell of a lot of people trying to do the same thing at the same time.

We could move the entire human species to Texas, and have a population density roughly on par with Germany.

We could move every human to Canada, and still have population density somehow vaguely similar to Canada.
Toronto wouldn't notice.

t's not a shifty take. How is not selfish to force a kid into this planet

Bro, if you don't want to have kids, just say so. No need to create bad rationale to justify what you want to do. It's ok to not have kids.

The wealthy are the reason that unsustainable abundance exists to begin with, though. Or did you think abundance came not from productivity, but from charity?

That's just the logistical hell of a lot of people trying to do the same thing at the same time.
This argument can be applied to any overpopulated species, though.
Too many deer? They're starving due to eating all the grass and dying from disease? Well, that's not overpopulation, that's a failure to distribute grass in other places on earth to them and a failure to vaccinate them!

Overpopulation can be called anything else if you choose to see that else as the root cause instead.

It's not bad rationale. No parent is having kids for unselfish reasons.
