A few months ago, I saw a post on reddit where a game dev talked about Tesla asking to put one of his games in their cars. And I was fucking baffled that Tesla lets you play video games on its dashboard. --- http://i.imgur.com/Er6TT.gif http://i.imgur.com/Er6TT.gif http://i.imgur.com/Er6TT.gif So? I love shitting on Tesla as much as the next guy, but I have a touch screen in my Mercedes and I love it. It can be voice activated too so you don't have to fiddle with it when your on the move. Only thing that bothers me is it collects a lot of dust. --- Balenciaga hoodies and Gucci shoes #FreeMelly ... Copied to Clipboard!

Forget how it looks. Who decided that touch screens were a better solution than tactile buttons when you are driving a fucking car? Be realistic. No one is pulling over or leaving the highway just to change channel or adjust the air con. So all these things do is create more situations for people to look away from the road. I like mine, pretty fuckin handy. mostly just pops google maps and spotify up on the screen via Android Auto but it does a few other less useful things. maps is nice cause once I have the search in on my phone, it's right up on my dash instead of on a mount that might dislodge or fall off or having to be discreetly held or set in a weird spot that i have to glance at to see(all really bad with the potential to cause an accident). Plus once it's searched on my phone it's usually in a list of recent searches / frequent destinations right on my main map screen so if it somehow disconnects it's literally one touch on the middle of my dash to get the directions back. Or if I thought I knew how to get home from somewhere but mid-drive I realize I don't? Home is a press, when otherwise I'd have to pull over somewhere to safely figure it out. Spotify is just a nice little convenience. I can technically just use bluetooth to play the audio in my car, but then if I want to play something else it'd still have to be phone contact, so not a smart move. tapping the dash a couple times to get back to daily mixes or recent artist searches with huge buttons i barely have to glance towards makes it go a lot smoother to change up the music safely on a long drive. Of course it has the display for the back up camera, which is great. I don't really need it to safely see behind me cause I drive a tiny car, but it lets me back up as far as i can in my garage so i have plenty of room infront of the car, or double check that i'm the lines of a parking spot without popping the door open. It also connects to my text messages (and funny enough, discord) in a safe and low involvement way by displaying only the most recent text or @/DM in discord if selected while in park. Yes it does have games, which I will admit is fucking stupid. It's not dangerous because like typing in shit or checking a text it only operates while in park, it's just fucking pointless. Sure I might play a mobile game to pass the time while waiting in a parking lot, but i'll just do that ON MY PHONE, where it's intuitive and easy and comfortable, instead of leaning into my fuckin center console or twisting my body at a weird angle for a screen i can't even hold. --- "Now, was that civilized? darkprince45 posted... I like that my challenger has the touch screen but still has knobs and volume adjusts etc.. best of both worlds Yeah that's how my focus is. AC still has buttons and there is still a knob for the radio volume, but i usually don't use that since I have volume buttons / track skip / etc on my steering wheel. --- "Now, was that civilized? pinky0926 posted... Forget how it looks. Who decided that touch screens were a better solution than tactile buttons when you are driving a fucking car?Touch screens became a thing because cars had too many buttons. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/0/1/4/AAJqhIAAEMEe.jpg ^This was the interior of the Panamera in the 2010's. Touch screens allow that ridiculous amount of buttons next to the shifter to be consolidated. It's a huge part of the reason Audi became the most popular of the German brands the last few years. Everything was controlled through the center screen and steering wheel buttons and it gave the cars a more minimalist look. Personally I like a mixture of buttons and screens rather then what Tesla is trying to do, but to each there own. --- Balenciaga hoodies and Gucci shoes #FreeMelly ... Copied to Clipboard!
