You are upset because the sentiment is true. Everyday I see people here in my threads complaining that nothing changes. We can't do anything to change the system blah blah. That isn't true, you just not willing to do what it takes.

I never told anyone to quit their job. But if you are going to say "it won't work, people can't afford to leave their jobs!" that is a stupid argument because THE REASON they can't afford it is they let those in power have that power and there is only one way to take it back....

Let's put it this way.
If people keep talking about it, someone in those streams who is charismatic and intelligent might rise up and organize it and then if you are someone who is not content and find that you are oppressed, then you will be given the choice.
My thread isn't asking anything of you, I am just talking about it.

Lmao, not at all. But if you are part of a union and on an official strike you are somewhat secure. Unless an hourly paid worker, which many are.

Setting aside the fact that you need to get the union members to vote in support it first, many businesses need minimum numbers to run so you won't all be striking - as a nurse, even though my union voted to strike I've been working during it at times to ensure the hospitals can still run. Which makes it amusing the government is claiming they "have" to bring in a law preventing us from striking to keep minimum numbers, when we already do that.

It's definitely much easier when you do have the backing of a union though, but not everyone does, and many aren't powerful enough or even willing to fight properly. Minimum wage workers are almost always fucked in this regard and easily dismissed or not able to secure proper benefits.

And yes, for all the "great benefits" we have in Europe, they could and should be better still. But if you do nothing, then nothing changes. You have to be prepared to sacrifice your own well being if you want change.

However, I fully get why many American's are hesitant. You are fully bent over and in the prime "get fucked" position. You will be disposed of immediately and with vengeance at the slightest whiff of resistance. I get why many don't want to risk being able to live when facing up against giant businesses who actively and openly despise them.

Because time after time, whether deliberate or accidental, you've shown zero interest in actually looking through a lens of realism, thereby mistaking my posts for actual corporate-supporting takes when they're really just takes at being realistic about the situation.

Megacorps are corrupt, funding the government, and are cleverly designed to keep the rich rich and keep everyone else as close to paycheck-to-paycheck as possible. I don't support the system and I never have. Unfortunately, because I'm a realist, I understand that buying groceries, paying rent, and partaking in society are necessities, which the system controls.

You are more than welcome to stop supporting big pharma by not buying your life-saving medication every month, but don't be surprised when people are confused as to why you chose that hill to die on.

I actually did this time and got a nothing reply instead which only furthered my growing cynicism with the whole reddit slacktivism movement paraded by keyboard warriors with no experience or sensitivity to working class people, many with families to support.

The real thoughtful individuals campaigning for workers rights have to do it through bureaucratic channels personally engaging with people, not fear pressuring them on the internet like they're going to Vietnam.

Advocate for better leadership, assert into being a liaison themselves, or if they're dissatisfied with that endresult, apply to better jobs with better conditions.

That's as fair and real as I'm keeping it.

They reach a deal, and then the government "extends" the deal to cover all restaurants and all restaurant workers. Everyone in the sector enjoys the pay and benefits that the union got employers to agree to.

Because every company, no matter how many of its employees are in a union, has to abide by the same pay and benefit deal, companies have less incentive to discourage union membership. Firms with more union members dont have any competitive disadvantage relative to firms with fewer: Theyre all paying the same wages and offering the same benefits. And employment growth doesnt necessarily vary among firms based on how many workers are in unions, so theres no reason for union membership to decay as firms with more union members do worse.
