Ive been with my boyfriend since we were college freshman.

I hated the holiday then and I still do now.

It just feels so forced to me. Much more than other holidays.

no because my family doesn't expect me to spend time with them, although i don't like there's no day off... i don't hate spending time with my family but i hate 'dinners'

I used to, but nowadays I don't really care or get worked up over it. No point. All that ends up happening when you get mad about Valentine's Day when you're single is that it generally becomes obvious why you're single to anyone witnessing your meltdown/tirade/etc.

If you genuinely love your partner, you're going to want to show it more than just one mass commercialized day a year.

And if your partner loves you, they're not going to bust your chops over treating Valentine's Day as nothing special when they're being shown a favorable amount of devotion all year. Only the most ratchet entitled slags of society pitch a fit over that...

Mutual devotion is not a common commodity in modern relationships, particularly in the west. It's an aspect of human nature that can not be bought.

Nah I dont hate it. I let go of my angst a long time ago and if theres a holiday I dont care for I just think of it as any other day.

imo it might be worse for couples because it just places expectancy on them. Every other day of the year you can just be normal but the 14 of Feb? Nah fam you gotta have sex on the moon while a mariachi band serenades you.

I hate it because I have to spent my hard earned money.

Thats why I am single.

I wouldn't loathe it if I had someone to spend it with.

I don't think anything of Valentine's Day. It's the most forgettable holiday of all.

The only reason I ever know it's even coming is because the displays in grocery stores. That's about it. It's not something that's shoved down your throat constantly. At least not mine.
