I imagine there have been people at every point in history who have said "The best days of humanity are behind us, it's all downhill from here," and I would argue that anyone making that statement in the past was wrong. If you're a POC in the West this is probably the best it's ever been. If you're white then maybe the '50s to '70s were the best. Though arguably it's still at its best because y'all are just more miserable because of a sense of awareness of how shitty the world has always been.
